2008 Corvette Rims On a 72 SWB

Okay, i have the corvette LS1 in my truck and i figure why not make it a "corvette Truck". Ya know switching over steering wheel and such, just little tweaks. I wanna put on some new corvette rims SIZE AND SPECIFICATIONS: 18x8.5 +56mm offset & 19X11 +64 or +79mm offset. The lug/bolt pattern is 5x4.75 (120.65mm). I think the stock bolt pattern is 5X5 on my truck but with an offset rim and all that good stuff what kind of adapter plate do i need? someone out there has done this so please help me out. Thanks

The corvette wheels won't work well, they are going to be so far tucked in it won't look right at all and you just might tip over on a corner. What I'm coming up with on the rear is about 8.5 inch backspacing with a +64 offset. You need to be around 5 inches of backspacing + or -depending on if you have the narrower 67-70 rear or the wider 71-72 rear end. I'm guessing you have the wider rear so you are looking at about 3.5 inch spacer on each side just to keep from rubbing on the bedsides. The fronts are going to need about 2 1/2 in spacer.

That size of a spacer for the front and/or back is really going to load the axles and bearings and more than likely be very unsafe.

I'm also not sure of a cost-effective work around for that either but anything is possible with time and money. That's just my two cents.

Agree 100%. You'll need the proper billet adapters & it can be done. The key will be finding tires that will work w/those rear wheels & still be proportionally good on a truck. Tires that fill the wheel wells are what you need.... anything less doesn't 'look' right. Since your going through all the effort to adapt the wheels, don't botch it here.

Some 5x5 to 5x4.75 adapters remedy the bolt pattern issue. Use 2.0" thick adapters in front for a 4.95" calculated back-spacing w/the 8.5" wheels & use 2.0 or 2.5" adapters for the rear w/the 11" wheels. The difference will depend on the rear housing (early or late version).

Front tires: Try a 255-45-18. It calculates out @ ~26" tall & has a 8.5" wheel within it's recommended widths. A less popular but better size (better meaning proportionally correct vs. the rear tire/wheel combo) would be a 245-50-18.

Rear tires: The only rear tire that comes to mind was available for a factory vehicle (F**D GT-40) & should work. It was a 315-40-19 which calculates to be ~28.9" tall so it would work well on these trucks. The 315 section width has an 11" wheel within the recommended widths.

Google 'billet wheel adapter' for adapter sources; the same thing for those particular tire sizes should locate some options from different suppliers/manufacturers. Have fun . . .....
