Re: anyone ever use The Carburetor Exchange
Call around to some of the auto parts stores particularly
the ma & pa places & ask for a factory re-built Holley. I got a 600 here for $190. It had never been bolted on to a manifold, so i am not sure why it was a re-man but it looked brand new. Runs great. RD |

Re: anyone ever use The Carburetor Exchange
do you have an oversized cam? quadrajets will NOT adjust with an oversized cam unless you do some playing in them internally

Which adjustments were you not able to make? As far as rebuilding, lots of step by step info on the web about it, pictures and all.

Re: anyone ever use The Carburetor Exchange
O'reilly and NAPA both sell Holley remans. I never had any luck with them. Sometimes we'd go through two or three Q-jets before getting one that worked right. They displayed a host of problems-- wouldn't idle right, off-idle dead spots, etc, etc. The story we got from the reps was that the cores were all worn out and it was getting tougher and tougher to build ones that worked correctly.
I called B.S. on this when a tech came to work for me that had worked at a GM dealership for several years. He knew how to build them and they always worked great after he went through one. Edelbrock used to sell a new manufacture Q-jet which was made by Weber. They've been discontinued, which is a drag because they worked excellent. I put one on my dad's '85 pickup over 10 years ago and it still works fine. Probably your best bet right now are ones remanufactured by Jet Performance products. Jegs and Summit both sell them, but you should probably call Jet directly just to make sure you're getting the right part number. |
