Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Thanks guys!!! Yeah, Sonia is my youngest. She's 8 and is very "girlie" with her pink dresses and dolls but when it comes time to work on the truck,it's all business. Puts on her ripped jeans and crappy t-shirt and grabs a wrench!!! Hey c10addict!! That's good idea taking her out to a track!! I think she'll dig it!! Her birthday is coming up soon......

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

As promised, here are a few more pics......
The firewall had so many holes, I decided to cut it out and make it smooth. Besides, it doesn't get that cold in So. Cal. to need a heater. I found some scrap metal at work and it seemed to do the job.

Next "hack job to tackle was on the frame behind the radiator.(don't know what that was all about but, also found some more scrap metal at work and worked out fine...

stay tuned.....

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Thanks k5blazer!! This is where the steeringbox was mounted.Had so much pressure on the side of the frame that it actually made small cracks on the side of the frame!! The new mounting kit should be here soon...

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

The reason that happened is, the steering box was mounted all wrong. It had angle iron welded to the frame and holes were drilled but no spacers were used to keep the steering box straight. If you notice on one of the pics that shows the steering box,it shows the side of the steering box against the frame and when you turn the steering wheel, the whole steering box would rock back and forth!! I got the adapter brackets in yesterday and should have some progress here soon.......

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Thanks joe!!! I just had to park it because everything just started feeling "weird". The clutch started to slip and the the steering kept having more play in it. Now we know why.........

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Hey everybody!! Haven't been able to do much on the truck lately because work picked up and I've been working 12hr shifts and every weekend. Just this past weekend I was able to find a real nice set of inner fenders and a steering column with the steering wheel for $65!! I'll be posting some pics soon.(if i can remember how) stay tuned.....

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Thanks Twiggy! Not sure yet about color. There's still alot of body work to do. There's certain areas that have alot of bondo that needs to be taken out.Right now I just want to get her back on the road and running good.

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

You're welcome sid. I know what you mean on the bondo, my original hood was bondo'd all over and I looked at two that had been primered up and with the magnet test, found out that half of each were bondo'd. Evil stuff.

Oh yeah! The bed got hit on the passenger side at some point and instead of bangin' out the dent, it got plastered with bondo! AAAAHHHHH!!!

Re: Here she is in all her primered glory!!

Well, I couldn't abuse the firewal anymore, so I took out the old tranny crossmember and cleaned up the frame a little more and finally got some primer on and laid down some paint on the frame.....
