Summit Header info
I thought I would share some header info I have. I am doing a budget resto on a 69 GMC shorty I picked up. I pulled out a 6cyl and 3- speed and dropped in a small block and auto. I bought the cheap Summit brand black headers for $89.95. I figured worse case I could always return them. First off the pic looks like the Flowtech pic on the Summit website yet $30 cheaper. Today I received them and they fit like a glove. Good underneath clearence they came with gaskets, collectors for 2 1/2" pipe and all bolts. The Flowtech part # is right on the box underneath the Summit #. For my frame project off I will order the Summit Coated ones. Thought I would share for anyone looking for a cheap set. I will start a build thread on this budget project.

Re: Summit Header info
Are those the ones that say for "offroad use only"? I saw them in the catalog but didn't know what the difference was. I did like the price though.

Re: Summit Header info
And it looks like you can use "real" spark plugs.
I don't know what flavor headers the PO put on my truck, but the only plugs I can use are Accel "shorties." It's not the PITA it was originally, once I figured out how to change them out.

Re: Summit Header info
I just finished my install and these are exactally the same headers I installed on mine. ZERO fit problems and for the price you can't beat them. AS with any header spend the money and get the header bolts with either locks or safety wire hole in them or you will be tightening them up once a week..
Great headers and great price.. |

Re: Summit Header info
"For Off-Road Use Only" is just a legal term that says that they are not responsible for the use that we who purchase them may use them, i.e., when the pollution police check your vehicle and see that you are not running the stock/OEM stuff. At that time, we have no recourse against the vendors for selling us a part that isn't EPA-compliant.
It doesn't mean you have to go out muddin'......although for some (like my oldest son), no encouragement is necessary.
