Fan Shroud Variations
Can someone explain the variations on the fan shrouds. Seems like there are a bunch of different options; small block, big block, 4x4, air/no air.
Thanks, Whit |

Re: Fan Shroud Variations
I need to know what the differences are between the various shrouds so I can pick one. LS2 going into a 4WD. The 4WD shroud would be the logical guess but.....

Re: Fan Shroud Variations
Thats a hard call, till you get the LS motor mounted. The ls motor likes to mount a tad foward from gen 1 position(unless you dont care about "buchin" the firewall. At any rate here goes on gen 1...... the sb mounts the farthest foward(2wd), I6 mounts 3 1/2" rearward, as does the 4wd sb, the BB is somewhere tween those figures(approx 2 1/2" setback) from sb 2wd position. You have a few options on the shroud, but I would mount the engine 1st, before ordering. Let us know what works....crazyL

Re: Fan Shroud Variations
Motor is mounted. My frame has 3 sets of mounting holes. The farthest forward, another set 1-1/2" back and another 2" further back. I have the motor mounted on the middle set. It's snug enough to the back but still has some room to get the valve cover off. I'm not sure if this is the BB mount or not. Chevy did not make a BB 4WD shortbed as far as I know. Maybe the middle set of holes are 4WD small block. However, I still need to know what the differences are in the shrouds.
Thanks, Whit Quote:
