Actually I have a 68 hood and a 70 hood. I figure that between the two, I should be able to make a 67/68 cowl. I'm thinking I want to start the induction scoop closer to the nose (continuing the nose slope for a short distance and end it above the actual cowl. Just some thoughts. Thanks again.

Not to sure without going out to look at my 72 truck but I think that if you go farther back that the rear edge of the hood, you might not be able to get the hood to open, I think the scoop will hit the cowl or windshield. This hood that I put this scoop on is for a 83, and when my friend picked it and took it home and went to put it on his truck it hit in the cowl, and will need to be trimmed. I you look at the finished pic that I posted you can see that this scoop did not go to far past the rear edge of the hood. So I dont think you can go over the cowl too far without a problem.

Not trying to tell you how to do it, just trying to help.

ok here is mine. i took the same fiberglass scoop as 72sbfs but i riveted mine down...big mistake. dont do that. it cracks pretty bad at the front over time. but heres a pic to give you an idea of what one would look like

Thats a good lookin truck orange72. If you were in the NC area I would fix up that hood and scoop for you and you could hang up and learn how to do it, is not to hard. I took a bunch of pics when I did the one in the pics so I could post them on here in sequence in case anyone wanted to learn how to do it.

yea you used glue didnt you? i heard something about using a type of glue they use on corvettes to hold the body panels together or something like that? any info would be appreciated.

72sbfs, I used a Harwood scoop on my last truck the same way you did in the pics. Used stainless rivets countersunk every 4" and glassed over then feathered out. Looked great for a few months before it started to crack around the edge. Fiberglass on steel don't last very long from the vibration and the closing of the hood. I had mine redone a second time and it only lasted 3 months before it started to crack again. I'll never do that again!

Goodmark now makes the scope in steel if you want steel instead. Check out www.goodmarkindustries.com. The scope comes pretty high so you can make it higher than the hoods out now.

The adhesive that I use is a 3M product, Automix panel bonding adhesive #8115. This is the 7th hood scoop that I have put on using this and the only one that has come back was a friend that ran his truck off the road and hit a tree on the front edge of the hood and it cracked the front of the scoop. I did bodywork for 7 years at a Pontiac dealership and stand behind my work 100%. I have been to the 3M course for using this product and they also stand behind their product. I will be doing the hood on my 72sb in the next few monthes and will take some more pics of it while I am doing it for anyone that might be interested in a cheaper alternative to buying a new cowl induction hood.

be careful though after about a year they start cracking around the sides and looks nasty i bought a fiberglass cowl and molded it in and in a year to year and1/2 nit cracked bad
