Re: runs great, at first
When i say the pickup coil i don't mean the ignition coil on top of the distributor. Underneath the ignition module there is whats called a pickup coil. This link tells you how to test it.

Re: runs great, at first
Looking at your other thread with the pic, I'd remove the fuel pressure regulator and run the truck before I mess with anything else. These trucks never had a regulator on them and with the carb set up correctly there is no use for it at all. It's most likely starving the motor.

Re: runs great, at first
I rebuilt the carb last night and its dialed in now. The regulator didn't help the issue and I don't like the way it looks, so I was planning on taking it out. The parts guy suggested it. I am putting a new (used) intake on and the rebuilt carb, flushing the lines and cleaning the tank this weekend. Then I can rule out fuel as an issue. I've also been told to wire my choke open.

Re: runs great, at first
what kind of filter do you have near the tank, i believe a inline filter mounted before the fuel pump would cause these issues.

Re: runs great, at first
i have never seen one mounted before the fuel pump so that could be the problem.

Re: runs great, at first
If you could rig a small gas can under the hood safely and run hose straight to the pump, that would eliminate the tank, filter, lines etc.

Re: runs great, at first
I've run an inline filter on my truck for the past 12 years. It's under the cab on the PS side. Runs fine with it.
