To the guys that build there own frames
this is mainly directed toward the guys that build there own frames, but if anyone else know jump right in, and let me know.
HOW DO YOU GET THE TRUCKS TITLED AND LICENSED? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO? i am wanting to build my own frame, but don't want to hassle with it, if it will be a pain in the butt. thanks tim

not an issue here, that i know of, they usually just check the VIN in the cab if they check anything at all.....

Anytime I have registered a vehile here in TX they have never looked at my vehicle. They just make sure the paperwork is correct and hand me plates.

Here in Ohio, the only issue is "proof". If you could prove that you had the old frame and maybe show that you bought the tubing for the new one, you would be ok. Really the only time this would come into play is if you actually declared that you did anything to it, or if it came up during an inspection because of a title transfer/sale.
At that point, after you sufficiently proved that there were no stolen parts involved, they would stamp a new number on the frame. This would then be added to the title and those parts would "belong" together. Then-again this may all be pointless because of the year. Somewhere along the way the laws may be different for vehicles of certain age. |
