Re: Forums for C40+?
Yep, "stovebolt.com" has a discussion forum for "big bolts" I go there from time to time to talk about the bigger rigs.
I have a GMC 6500 Tilt-cab dump truck and have got some pretty good info there. The forum is not as active as this forum is though. Danny

Re: Forums for C40+?
I guess i can run it by the powers that be.
I'll rename this thread and get some attention drawn to it, and see how much interest we can get on it. It may be one 'big truck' forum for all years, but that would still narrow down the number of threads you'd have to sift through to get your info on a search. |

Re: Forums for C40+? Head cound for all who want one
The problem I have found with the bigger trucks is parts are not readily available.
Sheet metal is normally only found on old trucks because it is not reproduced. A lot of the older big trucks have met their fate with the dreaded crusher. Around here you can still see a few setting out in farmer's fields or around old barns. My father was a big truck driver all his life and I enjoy the big trucks as well as the 67-72 Chevy/GMC. I remember when I was a kid learning how to drive my father's '56 F*rd cab over truck. At the time he hauled Mercurys out of a place near St. Louis. Danny

There is a junkyard in GIBSON, TN that has a bunch of
40,50,60 stuff. (Most of it's been for a very long time)

Re: Forums for C40+? Head cound for all who want one
I don't even own one, but I think the idea is sound. It could encompass all years, that way more viewers would be there.
many of these old rigs are still utilized daily here in the midwest for farming/hauling grain to market, etc. and I'm sure there are questions/issues on those larger trucks that we in the c10 through 30 family simply can't relate. I know for one, I'd frequently lurk on it. it may be a draw for more members and site supporters!

Re: Forums for C40+? Head cound for all who want one
i would appreciate the forum, once in a while. i've always liked the bigger trucks, and i'd like a place on this board to gather information and expertise before and after i get one.
it would serve the same purpose for me that the 67-72 board did before and after i bought my first k/10. now it's a love afair...

Re: Forums for C40+? Head count for all who want one
I'd like to see it happen. The board's title implies that all Chevy and GMC trucks are included anyway. I don't know how the admins would be impacted, but I believe there'd be a good bit of activity.

I agree. I love the bigger trucks, although I don't have one. Perhaps a classified forum too?

I want a forum for it!

Re: Forums for C40+? Head count for all who want one
I`d like a section for medium duty-heavy duty trucks. But,honestly doubt there`s be enough input to make it worthwhile. Most members only look in a few areas anyway. They don`t visit the slow ones. There`s nothing stopping anyne from posting these trucks now and how many posts do you see?As it is you can post in the appropriate year. The headings don`t specify 10-30,just year.
What about StepVans and other commercial GMs?What about pre`47 trucks. They`re totally left out.
