Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

... and practice picture posting...
The guy I bought it from said it is, but the brackets look like aftermarket add-ons.
Its a 73 Super 20, the tag under the hood does list heavy overload springs for the rear and heavy duty coil springs for front, but nothing about shocks.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

I have NEVER seen a dual front shock setup on a 73-87 from the factory. Not saying it wasn't done, but I haven't seen it. I would guess this is aftermarket or owner designed.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

1981--Complete restyling of the front end debuted in 1981. The restyling of the trucks boasted a weight reduction of up to 300 pounds. With the new grille design the trucks came equipped with quadruple headlights and is dubbed "Silverado" front end. Front sheetmetal remained the same through 1987. Four wheel drive received improvements by way of auto-locking hubs and the introduction of quad shocks. from http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/history.htm

My tag lists:
G51 - Rear Extra Capacity Springs
F60 - Heavy Duty Front Springs (Came With HD Front & Rear Shocks Recommended For Snow Plow Use On 1/2 Ton Trucks)
But it doesn't say anything about the Z75... probably are off a later truck.
Good to know, I'll prolly keep the dual shock setup.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

That is NOT factory. Someone added that. Quad shocks were ONLY available on 4x4 trucks, and wasn't until 1981.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

That looks factory. My 87 has factory dual shocks. I can post pics if any are needed.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

The truck picture is a 2WD pickup. which did NOT come factory like that.

74 shortbed 406,
Yours is a 4x4 pickup made after 1980 which was an option from the factory.

Re: Does anyone know if this is a stock shock setup?

I have never seen them on a 2wd but it looks identical to mine(with the exception of the control arm/axle part). I will have to look tomorrow and get somepics.
