Today my friend, Brother's69C-10, called me up to see if I wanted to go look at a 68 step side. He came and got me and we went and checked it out. Boy was it a POS. It is a 6cyl truck, 4 speed, no options, and needs every panel besides the grill and hood. LOL Anyway we went and got some lunch and afterwards he wanted to drive me by where he spotted some 67-72 parts. We drove out there and the cabs were visible from the road. Today it is rainy and snowy so we will have to go knock on doors later. A few miles down the road we spotted a 1968 4x4. It appeared to be the same colors as the anniversary edition too. We decided to go check out another spot I knew of that used to have a couple 70-72's in it. As we are driving out there I spotted a 70-72 4x4 sitting in a farmer's yard next to a bin. We'll have to go back later on that one too! LOL Well we get to the place that had all the other stuff, and it was all gone! The guy must have passed away and someone must of had an auction. We were going to go turn around and Matt spotted an old 73 up style truck. Sure enough it was a crew cab that looked like it could have been a 4x4. Now mind you this place is in the sticks, the house is junk and has been abanded for years. We pulled into the driveway and what is sitting there but a 71-72 C-10. We backed out and decided to see if we could find any neighbors that were home to see if they know who owns this stuff. No luck. As we were driving back we noticed another abandon house on that same property. I had him pull off the road and I told him we would walk up through the corn field to see what the crew cab was. It was junk. LOL No luck there. Only thing of use may be the tilt column. And no 4x4 but it used to be a big block truck. So I decided to walk down and peek through the windows on the 71-72. Holy crap! It has an air cab, a tilt column, wood grain bezel, and has some 454 emblems on the front fenders. This is a 5 lug truck and a lwb. We didn't open doors or hood but i peeked through the inner fender and sure enough it has a big block. It has some outlaw II type aluminum wheels and has it's share of cancer. I am now on the hunt to find the owners to find out if this thing can be saved. LOL Oh yeah, right behind it sits a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame for a 68-72. It has an eaton rear and big hub D44 with the lock outs still there. Man who would have known all this stuff was just 15 miles from home! LOL

Was the stepside you looked at the green one in Carlisle? If so I looked at it yesterday morning, and walked away from it too.

Yes it was. I think it is about a $100 truck to me.

The guy said that two people have already offered $400 for it, so they can have it. The entire inside panel above the windshield was rotted through, plus every other panel but the grille and hood...

Exactly what he decided after I told him to look above the windshield. It is a parts truck with a frame, grill, and hood. LOL

Thats the truth, if someone is willing to give $400 for that pos let em have it.

Now the other trucks are a heck of a find. Who knew we could find so much in a couple of hours.

I couldn't get a real good photo of the green 4x4 as the farmer's wife was watching me drive through her drive way. I didn't want her to go get her rifle or anything. She said her husband wanted to fix it up. Some other guy stopped a while back and he told him he didn't want to sell it. He hasn't called me yet but I bet this poor truck will rot away. I can remember this truck has been sitting since I rode the school bus way back in JR.High. That was 15yrs ago. I have no info on the 68 yet. I have got a lead on the 71 2wd and 4x4 frame but nothing solid yet. Not a bad find for an hour's worth of driving. And I spotted another in another small town, but they are going to let it rot away too. It is a white 72 cheyenne super, appears to be a K20.

I also found a nice collection of trucks this weekend. They have a crewcab dually 73 up. They also have a ton of 67-72 trucks of all kinds. I also do not have pictures of them. Its only about 30 minutes away.

I did find a place that had two 88-91 crew cab trucks sitting in a yard. Now I am 0 for 2. LOL the green truck owner never called me back, and I got a hold of the owner of the 72 black one and of course he is going to swap the body onto the 4wd frame. SOB

the other day I took a load of stuff to the landfill, and backed up next to a blak/gray/primer '70 GMC with my '72...

The guy was going to be fixing it up, and had already had some work done...

I have a route I take from Mitchellville back to Des Moines, and there are the following on that route.
1st spot. blue 67 small window, 67-72 parts vehicle
2nd. 71-72 Black parts truck (now gone)
3rd. '69-'70 Orange truck

and this is still sitting where it's been....

there's a pan underneath it...

the bed from a distance, looked like it was almost a plastic/composite molded piece, but when I got a closer look, it was a nicely done combination of galvanized sheet metal and wood.

no more projects for me until the '70 C-10 is gone....
