Not a word.... Hmmpf! I'll continue to be patient for the aforementioned reasons and I'll let you guys know if I hear anything. Especially if we get some pictures...

Thanks,

I really wish they'd do more great things like this around the united states. We need a show that's like overhaulin' .... only they go all over the united states and restore old cars sitting around... Imagine the companies that'd fund something like that. Get a few "celebrities" to host it and you have another primetime smash hit.... Not to mention you never know when they would be in your town..... I'm just super stoked that you won the contest.... It feels like they've had your burb for a year already though....... How are ya holdin' up without it?

Maybe they can't get the right shade of pink...... J/k.

I know what you mean, punk... There is a good opportunity to tap into the auto enthusiast out there without going the Pimpin' freak show route. The radio station rep called me on Friday to ask if I had heard any updates and I told him "no". He is supposed to be getting with the shop to let me know something soon. I told him no rush. If they give the me truck now, I will just have to store it for Winter and that means something else will have to sit outside here. Ideally, I'll get it back in the Spring.

I would love to see an "Overhaulin'" type show. One where they went into one end of an old junkyard and drove a ride out the other built during the trip thru.
Bummer that someone has your truck and you haven't got any updates.

Re: Help me Rock My Ride and possibly win $500 for your truck...

I spoke with the radio station yesterday and apparently they met with the shop and saw the truck last week. They said that they think that the shop is really dragging their feet, but there is progress from the last time that they saw it. According to the shop, they are on "phase 4 of 10 phases..." I think that we saw what phase 3 was on their website, so I guess they are further along than the pictures from 3 months ago? Anyway, I am just glad to hear that they are still in business and on task considering the tough economic times. The radio station did see the color scheme for the truck and said that I will be very happy with it. This must mean that they went with my suggestion? I asked the radio station to please keep close tabs on the project and hopefully it will be done by the Spring so that we can enjoy it when we have nice weather again. Even better that I won't have to store it this Winter.... I am headed to the barn right now with a big shoehorn to see how many that I can get undercover for the Winter. Thanks for your interest, guys...

The shop has a website with a few pictures that haven't been updated in about 3 months: http://www.streetlethalonline.com/project_72_suburban

Amen to that. I thin the radio station is wanting to get some closure while people still remember the contest. There is no rush on my end and I would prefer that they take their time and do a quality job. I think that they ill since it will be a showpiece for their shop. If they were really smart, they would have it finished by January as there is an Autorama type show at the Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati that would be the ultimate debut for the truck. That doesn't seem practical right now...

Sadly - Phase 1-3 could have been performed by 2 guys in one night -

Hopefully they pick up the pace for you - I can't imagine any of my cars being gone for that long without constant updates/pictures.

It will be curious to see how long it takes. I assume they are working on the Burb between other projects. My 70cst will be completed in about 4-6 weeks which means it will have been about a 12-13 month for an off frame resto project. I agree that patience is important.

ROTFLMAO!! Yeah, I am just patient because I know that I won't be getting a bill in the end. If I were paying for teh job, it would be a different thing...

They started in July, but have a lot of resources. It is definitely lower priority to the paying jobs, which is to be expected. They were also supposed to be performing the Suburban work after-hours, so that can be a challenge, I'm sure....

I've never understood the insurance job vs the "paying" job. Arent they getting 10 grand to do your truck? That sounds like real money to me. It spends the same as insurance money.

having worked in the office end of body shops a very little bit i know that they put insurance jobs first because insurance providers put them under stricted deadlines to get the car done and out of the shop. and if they dont get the car done before the deadline so many times most insurance companies will drop that shop as a certified repair facility which could cost shop owners a lot of money. a lot of guys love restoring old ones but have to do the insurance work to pay the monthly bills.

The shop is footing the bill, so they aren't getting paid to do the work. The labor is 100% donated by the employees and the shop is paying $10K for the parts. They admitted that they will have much more than this in the truck.

Me to, CG... I figure that if it came any sooner, I would just have to store it and I would just look at it, covered up all Winter.

Which brings me to a question... Does anyone make covers for our beasts?

Thanks,

It's funny, i keep forgetting all about this whole contest, then i remember it and check on it to see it isn't done yet, then i forget about it for a month or so, then i remember and it's not done yet..... This thing should be pretty sweet when you get it back, unless they're spending the 10 grand on gummy bears and hookers. Or maybe it means, when you get it back, it'll be worth 10 grand.

LOL, no doubt.... I talked with the radio station on Friday and they said that they saw the truck on Thursday. Apparently the shop moved locations, so that slowed their progress for awhile. The radio station said that there was a TV and a bar in the back and that one of the lambo doors was done... They kept talking about how cool the wheels look as well. *Sigh* I guess my dream of keeping this truck close to stock or as a muscle truck are gone. I am trying to keep an open mind. They are targeting for completion in late April, I'll let you guys know when I hear more. Thanks for the follow-up and support.

The majority of the 10K went to the lambo doors, 26" rims, and a body lift to shove the wheels under

Just kiddin'. I hope it turns out great! They need to update the website!

Hope the overall product turns out well....but worst case....you can sell it after the promotional period is over and most likely have enough cash to buy a nice complete stocker or restored one...

LOL! Yeah, no matter what it looks like, I'll take it to shows with their name on it. For better or for worse. These guys are pretty classy, so I don't think that they will do me wrong.
