door hinges
I've got some worn hinges. What would be the best bet? Buy new, replace the pins, or look for good used ones? Is it difficult to replace the pins?
thanks, josh |

Re: door hinges
It's easy to replace the pins, took me about 30 to 45 min(they were off the truck already), and it's a lot cheaper than new ones.
After I did the pins I blasted them and they look great and work like new. Good Luck

Re: door hinges
cool, good to hear. I see pin kits on ebay. Are they any good? Are they all the same? Anything to look for?

Re: door hinges
You may have to heat the hinges to get the pins to drive out. Most of the ones that I have done needed heating.
The pins and bushings are available at most auto parts stores. Around here they are package up in the "Help" section of the stores. The new pins may be too long but they can be cut to length. Jim

Re: door hinges
I got mine from one of the truck suppliers, and they needed trimming. But a little work saved me $100 off a new set of hinges.
Do the ebay ones come with the metal bushings?
