refinished a NOS sway bar today..

we put ECE 2 1/2 drop spindles with the ECE mounts and lowered frame bar mounts. . do you have a pic of yours installed. do you have alot of upward pull on the bar in the LCA? i can see a gap in the bushing where it's pulling up.

I have an ECE 1-1/4" sway bar using stock height brackets. Maybe because you lowered your truck with spindles and not springs there is a little bit of pull on the sway bar? Drop spindles do not affect the overall suspension geometry, just the location of the spindle. Springs change geometry.

Also: You have NO WEIGHT at all on your suspension, that will drop the suspension a good bit, which will ease the "pull" on the LCA mount You're probably fine, just need to get your truck done

I've seen those mounted without the frame bracket part, I just figured that was for a lowered truck?? I pulled a couple of them from a motorhome, need one for my 4X4, 73 and up looks like that'll work for the 4X, any ideas on the no bracket/lowered deal ??

70rs/ss... you can either mount the bushings directly to the frame by drilling new holes; or you can buy the "lowered" brackets and mount it this way. I believe either method is best used on a lowered truck as the bar will be pulled to high on a stock height truck and bind the sway bar. 2/4 I would use stock brackets, and anything lower I would use either method mentioned above.

Here's another thought as well....

I've also seen people use the stock brackets on a lowered truck, but mount the bushing on the inside of the stock bracket, so the bar is actually high off the ground, but optimized the stock brackets.

I used a 1 1/4 inch bar from salvage yard with ECE lowered bracket kit on my 68 GMC . It fit great about 30 min install . Truck is all stock for now . Truck did handle better . I still have the skinney stock tires .

I found my stock brackets after i placed the ECE of course. ECE recommended the lowered version of the mount brackets when i ordered my 2.5 / 4 kit, i did not think i needed it, and was going to get stock height but they suggested the lower. If it seems to bind, i will paint up the stockers and use them.

I called and spoke with ECE a few minutes ago. They recommend the lowered brackets for 2.5 and lower front drops.

I beleive my issue is there was not enough weight (bare frame) for any resistance on the LCA during install, and when the drive train gets installed it should should resolve my worries.

ECE stated if after the drive train is installed and i am still not happy to call them back and they would be happy to switch out with stock height mounts.

That's a neat idea! I won't need new brackets when I lower my truck
