Worked 8 i/2 hours of O.T. yesterday and am currently replacing my tailgate glass in the driveway here at home. It's snowing and the temp is about 20 - 22 degrees outside. As soon as I warm up a bit I gotta go back out and set up my flood lights so I can finish in the dark. It's 10 after 4 here now and the sun set about 30 minutes ago.

Re: What did you get done? 11/23

I spent the weekend studying again. Did a rad flush on a 2000 impala. Missed a huge snow fall. Last thursday, 20-30 kms away was hit with 3 to 4 feet of snow. We got 1 foot, so spent some time cleaning the laneway.

Re: What did you get done? 11/23

bought a new dimmer switch and relays for the headlights for my 84 and will install them probably a couple of weeks from now...also, bought brake pads and a serpentine belt for the Tahoe...we're going about three hours away for thanksgiving..they have sort of a family reunion every year on my wife's side of the family, so we goto that...it's usually a great time...so I gotta make sure the Tahoe is in tippy top shape before we go...I'll replace the parts tomorrow at lunch...

Re: What did you get done? 11/23

Bought another truck, I think it will be a daily driver by March if I can find someone to help me with making it a shortbed.

Played with a desktop dyno a little to find out what cam, intake, head combo I'm going to run in my blazer

Also got some gray door panels installed in my k20, I'm going to try and get the headliner and pillars dyed this week also. Finally making some progress on things woo hoo!

I'm breathing a sigh of relief that my truck passed its biennial State smog check. Came within a hair of failing, though. My wife was hoping it would fail. The State of California will pay you $1000.00 to get a "gross polluter" off the road.

Wired up the headlights and tail lights on Yeller, Painless wiring harness is now about 99% installed! I also installed the NOS grill, bezels, sidemarkers, front signals, and tail light assemblies. Felt good to get something done on the '73 for once!

Hey now, congrats on your smog check Big10

And talk about breathing a sigh of relief---- Just got my year-long project ('86 GMC C3500 Longbed stepper) on-the-road the week before, did the smog check on the 11th and was positively dumbfounded when it passed--- with way low numbers! Did a lot of work on the intake/carb/fuel-system to get it there and fully expected to still get flunked and have to go with a cat converter (plan C) but she came thru with flying colors.

Only thing that bummed me out was after I finally got to driving the big 1-ton to work for a few days it started to smell like oil burning-off on the exhaust header... turns out the reman brake booster I installed was leaking where it mounts to the master cylinder. Lesson: reman parts are always cheaper than OEM manufactured for a good reason, e.g., I R&R'd the NAPA reman ($185) for the ACDelco ($439) and that made for my busy weekend.

BTW; Since you're in the LA area and if you ever need, I can refer you to a really great carb builder here in OC 'cause they were extremely helpful in getting my project done and running tops. (It ain't pretty yet but it'll smoke the tires like a BB demon... yup~!)

Wishing a great Thanksgiving to all!

Re: What did you get done? 11/23

Dave:

I may take you up on that offer. I was in Orange over the weekend visiting my Mom. The problem with my smog test was the gas cap, of all things. California is going a bit overboard when my gas cap can cause a near stroke.

Re: What did you get done? 11/23

Bought some rotors for the diesel, bought some 60G glows for the diesel, paid for a bunch of eslay stuff I bought for the 84 (shipping cost more than the parts), got a line on some cheap repair panels and cab mounts, was forced to do nothing sunday at the in-laws. And ordered a OBD11 USB connector and scan software for the laptop so I can figure out what's wrong with my 99. It stinks having to catch up on modern tech.

if it is leaking brake fluid then itt is not the booster but the master cylinder has gone bad.
