Post Smog equipment?

I am looking into getting a 1976 chevy 4x4 with a 350 and was wondering what smog equipment is required on that year. The owner says it needs the smopg equipment and i would believe he is talking about the smog pump, thermostatic air cleaner, smog fittings on the exhaust manifolds and maybe a cat converter. Am i missing anything? Any diagrams or an exact listing would be appreciated. Oh and i am in california so if there is any difference in ca trucks let me know. Thanks

I'm not sure when Chevy started to put smog pumps in trucks. I think it was in 78. California trucks need a ton of smog stuff. The cat, heat riser, original air cleaner hose, pvc valve and probably a canister for sure. The cat probably not but I would put one on just for emmission testing. Try finding an original factory manual. It would list all the stuff you need. You should be able to find a manual at www.ebaymotors.com . I bought one for my '83 for $35.00. Ask your local chevy dealer too. Since you live in Cali, I would ask an inspection station. They would only give you the minumum that you need. No need to add extra junk.

As far as I know Ca trucks have more smog crap than any where else. Chances are most of it doesn't work anyway. I would throw it all out but i'm not sure if you have smog checks there.
