Thermal fan Controller
I want to replace the belt driven fan and fit a couple of thermal fans.
Does anyone know a good brand thermal fan controller with adjustable temperature and a thermistor that can be tapped into the radiator hose? |

Re: Thermal fan Controller
I used that Denale or Flexalite brand, that uses a flexible anode that slips into the top hose and is actually submerged in the hot coolant, work great and is fully adjustable.
Forget about the type that is pushed the radiator fins..those suck big time.

Re: Thermal fan Controller
Looks like a typo in the Chief's post. I'm pretty sure he meant Derale (not Denale), as in this one:

Re: Thermal fan Controller
Vintage Air sells an adjustable thermostat that screws into the drain of the radiator - using one on my 65 and it works great.

That said, it really will work well enough for practical purposes in almost any location. The heat rise as water goes through the engine is fairly predictable, as is the relative temps at various locations. It is just that some are hotter than others, so one uses a different setting to get the same overall result. But if you put the sensor in front of the thermostat, then you could get temp spikes that will turn on the fan even though overall the system is not hot. That's what I mean by not as stable of control. |

Re: Thermal fan Controller
Well, what im going for is a sensor that actually touches the fluid. You dont see car manufacturers use probes that stick through the radiator. SO, i went out and bought a little do it yourself kit.. $30 bucks and it will auto turn on the fans at 190 and it has an actual thermo switch that goes in the coolant system.....
I will take pics and post part numbers.. im sure this has been done, i just figured what the heck... Comes with a 30 amp relay, atc fuse holder, temp switch... Cool stuff.... |
