Re: Tail light ideas

I like the idea of shaving things, but I think some things should be left alone. This would be one of them. If there was something out there that would improve the look with different taillights, I wouldn't mind too much. Every square body I've seen with the tail lights shaven has looked cheesy, or not well thought out. Some things just shouldn't get shaved. For example:

No.

Think about how well that would work during the day.

Sounds like you want to smooth the taillight into the factory body work and dust them with paint, that way when they are not "on" you can't see them at all. You could do the same thing with some 10" LEDs in the roll pan, but I don't particularity care for that look.

Re: Tail light ideas

i had some 14" led strips under the tailgate for a while...

unfortunately i couldn't open the tailgate with them there, so i moved them down to the rollpan

then eventually i replaced it all with this strip. i planned on actually flushing it in that exact spot and put in a new smooth rollpan and tailgate but never got there...

Re: Tail light ideas

Don`t they make caddy inserts for the later trucks? Why not try to make them work in your truck.

Re: Tail light ideas

if i was a tattooed cat id be pissed beyond belive! yea i was gonna get the leds, but im welding my tailgate into the bed where its just there, its not gonna open, so there will be no room to put them. but can i make a metal cover to weld over the tail lights in it now with like slits or holes in so when i paint it, it would look shaved? or paint the plastic covers on them now?
