Well I can tell you here in Maryland where I am at there isn't hardly a hand full and I know the area well. In this immediate area there is nothing, you may see one once in awhile. Oh and 4wds don't exist lol here.

I agree with Mudder. Think about it. You normally will see more in Rural areas. Let's face it. These were originally acquired for utlitarian use. I.E. for the farms and ranches. With that being said, you will find more outside the rust belt. Unless someone took it upon themselves to restore these bad boys before it was fashionable. I still see more than my fare share in Virginia. My two cents,

their are a ton of farmers trucks and dd's,, desireable and restoreable trucks are getting harder to find

they're brining in good $$$ in the Mid Atlantic Region average price for a decent truck around here 1500.00-2500.00 that needs restoring ie cab corners/ rocker panels / paint etc is. The Vehicles Of Paticular Interest book has the 71-72 trucks as followes: fair cond $5,450.00 good cond $10,975.00 exelent cond 21,900.00 they're only going to go up in value over the years. fair means will pass a state insp. needs cosmetic repair. may have a replacement eng. not a beater.

Theres quite a few just in my tiny little town there's 4 just at my high school mine,bcbasketball his 72 he never gets on here anymore, my friends 72, and another kid drives a pretty nice purple 69.
I see quite a bit sitting in peoples backyards

I see them down here once in awhile mostly restored...not everywhere but prolly about twenty or so...now up in south carolina I used to come across them frequently

here where i live they are a handful of good trucks and there's one ive been after for awhile the old guy drives it all the time winter and all 68 step side the orignal paint my son wants it so i ask the guy when i see him if he ready to sell and he laughs what my wife .

They are absolutely everywhere here. Craigslist always has a good number of short beds in the sub 2000 dollar range.

What gets me lately is that the square body style trucks have greatly passed our trucks in price nowdays. A few years ago, a 75-85 SWB was a 1000 dollar truck. Now, they seem to bring 4000 or more for a decent driver.

There are allot here in the high desert of California. Allot of long beds and an amazing amount of Chevy/GMC LONGHORNS. Parts normally come from fellow junk owners whom you know or have met to get a replacement just short of the parts stores. The local junk yards do have a couple to pick a part off of, but they also like to horde whole trucks and tell you they don't have anything, but yet there are ten sitting there staring you in the face thru the back of the building or in a side holding lot. The Nada web sight gives you a really nice low value price on all these daily drivers, but to get about $2500
to $3800 for a well kept up truck is the norm here. If anyone ever just wanted to get a really nice, rust free truck; the desert area of Cali, Arz and New Mex is a great place to do it. There are allot of local trucks sitting in yards here for whole parts trucks as well. We also have allot of half breads where local owners put other brands of truck beds on there pick ups just to do what it is they feel would make it functional or whole. For example, a 72 pick up with an 89 bed on it from Dodge. They also like to paint these crazy creations with California colored paint that would be very bright and send the message; please look at me. Hopefully in our future Cali doesn't go over board and pass some law that would make the old trucks go away. To walk out my house every morning and here the birds and see my two trucks in the drive way is what makes my day feeling great.

In my line of work I get to travel the entire eastside of MO, and I see a ton of '60-'72 trucks. Move out to the country guys!

Not many here in Alaska as far as I can tell, though I have seen a few on Craigslist (That is where I found mine), most of them are rough around the edges though. There have been some trailer queens on the strip (Yes, Anchorage has a "Strip"), a few in local car shows, and you see them around from time to time in the summer. But as far as a nice quality restore or original roaming the pavement, I have only seen about a half dozen good looking 67-72 rigs on the road in the last 14 years I have lived here, and as we all know those usually stand out in a crowd, at least to us gearheads that appreciate them. Who knows though, this place is just different, guess that doesn't mean they are not here, they may just be in hiding...or hibernating.

This may not be the same truck. I was pretty much by it before I noticed it but I think it was a green LWB sitting right by the road....

Okay, could have been the '69-'70 LWB green truck on the west side of Hwy 63. I have seen this truck before and it was for sale. Since I'm usually in the company car, I can't stop by, but have it on my list the next time we head down to Meramec Springs.

Thats an easy one --- there were not as many loaded trucks made back then thats why they are proportionately scarcer now. Has little to do with people "squirrelling away" the big block trucks. Heck, 1/2 the 2500 series trucks had 402's and few care about them.

Long bed production outnumbered shortbed production by a large margin, and Cheyenne Super production was very low in comparison to how many trucks came out with the base V8 or I-6 and maybe 2 or 3 other options.

Trucks were not dual purpose then and many were bought to work. Fluff like pwr steering and ac, etc. didnt mean anything to a hay hauler


Now its just the opposite, you have to go out of your way to find a new 08 truck that is lightly optioned

My answer to the question including good ones is NO just look at the trucks forsale section of this site. There are quite a few well priced trucks that look great. I personally feel that 99% of the people just will not road trip for a good one or throw the beans down for a great one. Heck 99% will not even buy awsome parts because they just plain are 2 CHEAP I have been in the hobby nearing 30 years and I for one can admitt that If I want it I go out and get it. That means sacrifices and lots of long hours. When I have it in my possesion I can appriciate it that much more. John

There are a lot in my area and since the economy has died,,they are giving them away. Twords Chicago it leans out a little but the farther west you get,the more you find. Hey Man,,this is farm country. Who do you think was buying pickup trucks ,before it became a fashion statement ? People used to buy a pickup to HAUL things,,not just to look at,,Me too! Drivers are going for about a grand right now. They were at least twice that a year ago.-KB

They are uber-plentiful here, and there are still some decent one for decent prices. LWB's are most common, but I have 4 SWB fleets and 2 SWB steppers that I've bought over the last few years. I've passed on several more that were a little rougher. Everyone one of these are worth fixing. Oddly enough, my nicest truck has the roughest cab (has some rust in the cowl) but it is WAYYY nicers than many of the rust belt cabs I see people restoring. It has the rust in the cowl, but the floors and, floor supports, and inner rockers are fine. It would be good to go with the cowl fixed, rockers and cab corners.

i know where a 67 c/10 short step small window is just sitting (i asked about it 5-6 years ago but no answer on it and its still sitting their about 2 miles from my house), and a 70-71 i believe to be a c/20 about 5.5 miles from my house. i also know where a 69-70 burb is just sitting about 4 miles from my house as well. i see a few trucks driving around here and their. but have only seen 1 burb actually driving around my town.
