Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

So it is a cut frame??? Sounds like someone (Seller) is playing dumb. I sent him a question asking if the truck had a factory SWB frame, or if it had been cut. No answer. IMO, $35k would not include these kinds of issues. Personally, if I had restored the truck, I would have used one of the factory SWB frames I have and done it right, and told potential buyers what I did when i restored the truck. They will not get their asking price with the economy what it is anyway. my brother has a 72 Cheyenne that my uncle bought new is all black from the factory like this truck,402 BB, TH400, tilt and factory LWB. He left it this way when he restored it. The only change he made was we added a tach dash. Funny thing is that when he had the body off, he found that the frame was tweaked pretty hard from a past wreck. I asked him if he wanted the SWB frame I have and he decided totake a LWB frame I had, since he had already looked high and low for a LWB bed, (original bed floor was rusted out from uncle leaving a piece of shag carpet in truck for 30 years) and ended up taking THREE to make one really nice one with no filler. he could have easilyadded the SUPER equipment, SWB, tach, altered the SPID, etc, but that is what the big controversy is right now with doing that kind of things w/ musclecars, and it is considered FRAUD... Reminds me that I need to get some pics from him. Instead, with the "new" frame he got from me, he is using a LT1, 4L60E and disc brake 10 bolt rear out of a wrecked 1995 Impala SS, and puttingthe TH400 and 12 bolt3.07 in the barn. Maybe he could get a SPID made for the LT1, 4L60E and disc rear HAHA

He could have swapped in a good, original short wheelbase frame. No one will know unless they get a look under it for themselves.

Ah, hell, if I'm going to drop 35 large on a "frame off restoration" I want the doggone rattle-stop bumpers on the glovebox door!!

Astute observations. Looks like fraud pure and simple. He should be reported to ebay. If I'm droppin' 35 smackaroos on something that ain't even a muscle car, it better be clean as a whistle.

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

the wheelbase is usually printed on that glove box sticker right next to the vin, it appears from looking at that pic posted that someone has intentionally removed it, you can see the white square where it should be printed that it has been worn thin with the blue coming through much more prominently, perhaps rubbed out with thinner etc.

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

I would suspect that they switched a vin plate, they probably got a SWB that had the right numbers on the cab and put all the cheyenne stuff into it off of a long bed. Then just scrubbed the SPID tag to not read LWB.

The thing I would be worried about there is that truck being built out of stolen parts or somthing.

It really makes you wonder when you read those stolen truck threads...

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

What really sucks, guys, is that there are very many misinformed "tools" out there who would not hesitate to drop this kind of cash on items like this. But for the many of us who are "in the know" we can smell a rat a country-mile away!

I have been in the show circuit for many, many years and in order to even begin to state or to even infer that a vehicle is "Concours" level this poor soul would be escorted off of the greens! I have never personally entered any of my cars into a Concours-level showing because I know what makes it and what does not and I would not have the stones to tell anyone that my vehicle is "Concours" restored.

As the ever-so-eloquent Mr."T" put it..."I pity da fool.."(who purchases this truck)

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

This is a copy of my message to the seller:

"Although this is a VERY pristine truck, please do not take this as a slam but this IS NOT a "Concours" restoration nor is it 100% correct. Also, I am concerned that the wheelbase spec on the SPID (glovebox door tag) has been cleverly "whit-ed" out of the pic. I really believe that this is a re-badged 127-incher and someone is aware as well. It is nice for sure but it is in no way correct.
Good luck with the listing and I hope you take heed to this message.

Good luck,
Bud Weaver"

Then why did they go through the trouble of hiding the WB on the SPID??

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

I went to the auction to do some more snooping and guess what. The auction was ended: "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing." I wonder if he will do the right thing and disclose everything, or go get a SPID made to cover it up. I am going to add him as a favorite seller and keep an eye out to see what happens.

Re: Ebay SWB BB Cheyenne Super

I will remind everyone when buying on EBAY, do not merely rely on the "100%" shown by feedback. Ebay recently reset everyone's feedback to 100% a few months ago?!?! I know because I had 99.7% because of "ONE" negative I got a couple yrs back, out of nearly 400 transactions. That is better odds than 1 negative and 1 neutral, (but reads as negative) out of 18!

Go to the auction, click on the "18" (or number of transactions).
Here was the following
Negative feedback rating:

"Emailed the seller twice. Was misleading in vehicle discription.

This was a neutral:

Neutral feedback rating I didn't receive the vehicle that had no reserve ! I was told Ebay made mistake?

As long as the frame was not cut, I would give 35k for it too. By far one of the nicest trucks I have ever seen. Pics don't lie.

Just putting another frame under the truck and changing the SPID wouldn't make it undetectable. The VIN number is stamped on the frame. You would think anybody paying that much for a truck would check that they match.
