I'm looking for a rear disk brake conversoin for my '76 Truck. Can anybody help?

Cliff25,

There are several options for you. You can build your disc brakes from parts availalble, buy kits or swap the rearend. The easiest will be to swap the rearend. You can use a Cadillac or Lincoln Continental rearend. Using one of these will align the travel path of the front tires with the rear tires. The next option is to buy brackets from people who make them then bolt Corvette or Caddy parts on to your original rearend. I've seen brackets available on www.ebaymotors.com
The more expensive option is to buy a kit. The best I've found for the price is available from Hot Rod Brake Systems . They use Corvette brakes or caddy brakes. Other kits will cost you over $600.00. The Hot Rod kit will cost you less than $500.00. If you do the conversion, I would like to see some pics. I've thought of doing the same thing.

How about a little more info on the rear differential? Is it a 12-bolt,14-bolt FF? All this effects your options and may elicit more responses. Just trying to help.

I assume the '76 truck is a 1/2 ton SWB or LWB. If so then the rear is more likely to be a 12 bolt. 3/4 ton or 4X4 will probably have different axels.

Its a '81 12 bolt rear end with 3.07 gears. The trucks a '76 C10 SWB registered as a '73 to get around California's bull**** smog requirements ('73 and older are exempt). Sorry about the lack of specifics, I'm new to this forum thing. I did find some brackets on e-bay, thanks gchemist.

Hey, I have 12 bolt 3.08. I removed the stock 2.72 10 bolt. Looks like this now.
