December issue of Custom Classic Trucks
Just picked up the December issue at the walmart last night and saw the yellow 72 on the cover. Flipped over to page 17 and started reading. In the opening I saw the line "It's sleek lines, last year bodystyle, stock four-wheel disc brakes...". I'm pretty new to these trucks, but I've never seen or read about a truck with all wheel disc brakes. I'm not saying its not, but I just can't rember if I did. Under the title of the article "Shaved Cheyenne", it says "Used to be a Super", I'm not exactly sure what a super is (Newb), but does that have something to do with the 4 wheel disc brakes? Not bashing the truck or the mag, just curious and trying to learn.
Thanks Kevin |

Re: December issue of Custom Classic Trucks
disc on front only is correct, and a super is a upgraded Cheyenne package.

Re: December issue of Custom Classic Trucks
a super refers to cheyenne super, the highest package you could get in 72 as far as i know,71 and 72's had front disks factory, i dont think that any 72's ever came with full disk brakes
it sounds like the magazine typed up a few errors in the article

Re: December issue of Custom Classic Trucks
I saw that same bit of mis-information, too. I thought about dissing the magazine staff for it, but I'm sure someone entrusted to putting the copy in place isn't anyone but a copy person, not a knowledgeable truck person. It seems to me that hardly enough of them will use the spell-checker, but I don't know if anyone yet has a truck-savvy computer that knows when a given statement is bull butter! That's why their readership is ready to jump on them when they screw up....it's our job.
As for the info that said it used to be a Super, you also read that the majority of the trim was eliminated, including badging, upper/lower side trim, etc. The emblems on the sides of the front fenders are not stock, if that has you worried. He put a 502 in it, and he has badging that establishes his bragging rights. It's a nice truck.
