When I was 14yrs old my dad a I bought a 66 Chevelle Malibu and made a dirt track car out of it and he put me in it to drive, and for 4 yrs I drove every Fri. and Sat. nite at 2 local tracks,it was so neat all the guys I went to school with on Fri nite they would be playing football and I would be powersliding around the local highbanks of Lancaster Speedway. It had been 20 yrs since I drove a race car until last year when a friend of mine that has a race car ask me if I wanted to drive his car one night and I said Man Yeah. Well anyway I finished 3rd in the heat and 4th in the main,I felt like it was closuer to a chapter in my life, but it sure was fun out there with all that power!

This 69 Camaro belongs to my buddy. The motor is a 355 with a 350 turbo (#'s matching motor). The car runs 6.90's in the 1/8th mile. The car is street legal and frequents carshows and cruise in's most of the year. Pretty impressive. We ran in a 7.00 shootout last month at Brainerd Dragway. We got put out in the 3rd round. We had to run this 70 SWB. It runs 6.50's in the 1/8th. Also impressive. The owner was a real nice guy. I think he finished 2nd or 3rd.

I've taken my car to the track a few times. I haven't taken my truck to the strip yet, but might this spring.

Got a V-6 in a 3600+ lb. car that I race.
First pass ever (for me and the car) was an e.t. of 15:53. Added a fuel pump and an adj. regulator and got it down to 12:98. Yeh - It's an 87 Grand National. Don't have any pics to post. They all look alike anyway. Painted the 72 truck last summer. The project for this year is to do the same with the Buick. What I'd like to do someday is to tow the truck to the track with the GN. That ought to confuse at least a few people. |

chevy garage -
We used to vacation at a place just north of Brainerd. The entrance to the resort was also the entrance that the racers had to use to get into the track. They had to drive right through the camp ground, and usually had to stop and wait. Pretty cool to check out all those great looking cars and trucks. |

I've always like the 1/4 mile. I think I got it from my dad. I have a 84 Chevette. Now before you laugh let me give you some specs...265 cu in Brodix aluminum heads and high rise intake, Lunati roller cam, Eldebrock carb, headers, TCI Turbo 350 with brake, 9" Ford rear rearend with locker & etc. The car turned out quite well. Handles great. It didn't move much last year while working on my garage.
I have also raced my other cars a few times just to see what they will do...lol. I even raced my VW Baja once... 16.40.....woo hoo. Not bad for a Beetle I guess considering I just barely shifted into third gear at the end. |
