Just bought my first 69 GMC C1500 but it is totally stock! I would like to know the easiest way to convert the front brakes to power disc brakes? And I would like to add power steering, can i use the parts from a newer chev? Some help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

theres a couple different ways. With my sons truck, we bought a parts truck and used the '72 front xmember for disk brakes and used the rearend , ps box as well. we also used the booster/MC from the parts truck. you can use 73-87 parts as well. do a search on the board for these conversions and you will have alot of reading on your hands.

Welcome to the board. Yes you can use parts from a newer truck. You can use everything from a 73 to i think 91 chevy truck. Do a search there is a crapload of info on this. I am in the middle of doing this same swap on my truck. I am using everything from a 85. The search button is your friend.

Welcome to the BB.Not to be rude but I couldn't tell you all the ways to do this.Search the FAQ's list.It has so much info no one can remember it all.There are a bunch of ways to do these mods.Member "Krue" has indexed the FAQ's and it should be easy to find in there.
BTW You can search members and find his info there with a link IIRC.

Thanks for all the good advice! I have a line on a parts truck it is a 92 GMC ext. cab, will these parts work or should I look for 87 or older?

Are you planning to do a drop suspension as well? Might just be easier to go get a set of disc drop spindles and start that way ,imho. I just did this to my 70 gmc.

Your better off with 73-87 truck (73-91 Burb) parts or a 72 donor. If the motor is out of both, it's an easy swap to bolt the entire crossmember in.

If you're gonna do it, do it right. If the control arm bushings and shafts are worn, you'll want to replace them while they're easy to access. Ditto for the upper/lower ball joints. If you decide to go with drop spindles, I can recommend Early Classic Enterprises. There are others, too. Some board members are vendors and sell the components you will need, whether it's aftermarket or OEM replacement-style.
