I need some help..
hey guys, as u may kno, ive been putting in caddy lights in my 79 and now that i got the new wires hooked up, the turn signals are all messed up. when the left ones on, nothing works in the rear, but when the right ones on they both flash like the hazard lights. ive had this problem when i took my bed off, and it turned out to be the ground, but i cant figure this one out, ive redone the wire 2 times in different places with bare metal. my dad seems to think its a ground under my dash, but ive never seen nor hear of one that controls the turn signals. can any one help me out?

Re: I need some help..
JR. 1 step at a time. Under the rear of the bed there is a connector plug, pop it appart. Now, turn the left signal on and probe the connector with a test light to find out which wire is left. Then repeat that with the right one. Now turn the running lights on and probe to find out which wire feeds those. Do 1 side at a time and hook up your new lights making sure you are hooked up to the brightest element (brake\signal lights NOT running lights) Once you have that squared away hook up the running lights and license plate light and test everything to make sure it's all correct BEFORE you make the connections permanant. Once all tests are passed, directionals work, brake lights work, running lights and license plate light works solder it all togther and tape it well or use heat shrink crimp connectors available from Walmart. If you don't know about this, the heat shrink connectors, once you crimp them, use a butane cigarett lighter and heat them up and they shrink and make a waterproof seal. There are 3 sizes, RED, BLUE & YELLOW, you want the blue ones. Get a handful, once you use them you'll never look back. Good luck, keep us postedjim

The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |

Re: I need some help..
well it turned out to be that i mixed some wires up while rewiring them and the reason the turn signals didnt work and worked in both is because they where wired by the same wire, but its all good now, thanks for the help James!
