Lift Kit

Where is the best place to buy a 4"-6" lift kit? I have a 82 GMC 1/2 4x4 and would like to lift it. Not sure hoe much yet but, I was thinking a bout 4" w/rear springs. Anyways just wondering if there ae any sites you guys recommend?

I'd recommend checking with www.offroaddesign.com they have excellent service. Don't even ask me about my thoughts of 4 Wheel Parts service.

offroad design

I have heard good things about offroad design, can you recommend a specific product of their's?


I also heard offroad design has a shackle flip system, anyone here ever use it?
Does it just replace the rear blocks and you lift the truck as usual?

I talked to their tech department for about an hour the other day to get a plan together for my '71 Suburban. They were great. I have used their u-bolt flip kit as my axle saddle was broken. Quality was good and it fit perfectly.

My budy (and I will soon) has the shackle flip and it works very well. We just had to shim the pinion down to get rid of some vibration. They can help you with this.

I will be purchasing a bunch of their stuff in the near furture.

CHEVY FOREVER,

Not sure how high you were wanting to go but here in about a monthe or two I will be taking off my 6" lift (superlift springs front & rear) to put in my 10" springs. I will let them go pretty cheap. You know, to help out my fellow gear heads.

6" LIFT

When putting on a 6" lift what all do you have to change. Brake lines, angles of anything? I have never put one on before but I have a buddy who has done more than I can count. But for my own sake, can some one let me know. Thanks!

My Burban was stock when I put on the 6" lift. I had to add new brake lines and steering and pittman arm and new shocks. Although it didn't require it, after about 6 months of daily driving and hunting in it I had the rear drive shaft lengthened. The front seemed to be OK.

Usually a 3-4" lift will not require any changes. But I would recommend longer brake lines. Once the articulation starts it will stretch your lines to the max.

Do you guys think it is worth getting the rear springs? I was thinking of just starting with blocks since I won't be doing any serious off-roading. But then part of me thinks lets just do right from the start and get the rear springs. What are your thoughts?

If money is not an issue, I would get the rear springs. If you would rather not shell out the extra money right now, I see nothing wrong with running rear blocks. I would however limit the amount of height used for rear blocks. I would try not to go any higher than 2 to 3 inches of rear block. If you do run rear blocks, get a better quality set, like steel or cast iron. I would stay away from aluminum blocks. Superlift makes a nice block.

As far as ORD I've bought several of their products and others they sell:

ORD u-bolt flip plates for the rear, 2" HD tuff country springs, TC rear add-a-leaf, skyjacker pitman arm, HD shackles w/ frame bushing, and shocks. Service was great and parts sent out promptly. I bought my rims and tires from tyres international i got a better deal with them w/ shipping than my local shops.
Blocks in the rear are fine, just keep them with in reason(<4") and don't stack them. But like what was said if you have the money buying the rear springs is cheaper if you buy everything at once than buying them seperate a year from now.

1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
