Angry I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

Please bare with me I just got off work and am pretty upset.

On 12-18 I bought so much needed brake lines for my truck
I ordered them for a 69-70 with front disk brakes
on the 23rd they came, i thought cool they came pretty fast.

I opened the box, and they shipped me the wrong brake lines they were for a 67 with drums.

So I call them on the 26th to let them know what happened, she said no prob we will get this fixed and send me a label for the return shipping for the wrong ones.

I get the package today and open it up and what do you know They sent the same damn thing, and no label.

So now I have four front brake lines for a 67 with drums.

I just looked at them again and they say 68.

Also the first rear brake line that came had a manufacture date of 10-14-1998 over ten years ago so I asked if they could send me a newer one.

Will the 68 brake lines work with disk brakes? I am pretty sure they are not compatible.

Am I out of line for being upset?
I needed these when I ordered them because mine are cracked very bad and Its my daily driver

Please let me know what you think
I did not want to bash on the company just yet, I have to wait intill tomorrow to call and get this sorted out.

Thanks

Maybe because you are telling them 69/70 year and they are assuming you mean drum brakes. Try telling them 71/72 year. That's when they came with disk brakes.

When I called them the first time I told her I needed them for a 72, she said "OK" on there website they list them like this

Quote:
[(1967) Brake Hose - Front - 1/2 Ton]

[(1968) Brake Hose - Front - 1/2 Ton]

[(1969-70) Brake Hose - Front - 1/2 Ton]

[[1971-72] Brake Hose-3/4 Ton Front, Left & Right]
Now I dont have a 3/4 ton but I need the ones for a 72..

Very confusing

I will call tomorrow and try and figure it out

Just need to vent

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

brake llines and stuff are readly avaiallbe at local part stores, for these things I buy locally and then can return them if they dont fit, and not have to wait. But you will have to order for a 72, as what was said above thats when they came out with disk brakes..

with those large shipping warehouses, its hard to get information down to the packing depart from customer service.

but been there and done that as well.. try 3 trips in one day to a parts store on a weekend, when my local is closed, and the other ones are 30 miles away!

But Ive heard others have great experiances with them

I'd send them back and ask for a refund. I agree with others. Get them locally.

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

your local hose and fitting place should be able to make a set in less than a hour if you bring the old set in. I had to have a set made for mine that were a little longer than stock when I bagged my blaze, it wasn't too expensive.

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

Check ECE. They make a 67-70 "conversion" brake line when switching to disc brakes. I think the hose connects on the opposite side of the crossmember on the 71-72 trucks. (Front side as opposed to back side, or vice versa)
The one from ECE will connect right where the drum brake hose was and is long enough to reach your disc brake caliper. I just ordered a set today.

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

I would just pull the old ones out and have them made locally....It is alot easier than all that brain surgery.
Dont get upset just return all of them . Maybe go to your local part store like napa or advance auto and get them from them.
Good luck

Correct, drums are on the back side, disks on the front side if factory installed. Not real positive about conversion lines. Most I know bend their own when it comes to a swap over from drums to disk.

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

You're talking about HOSES, though, right (what you picture is of)? Not [hard] lines?

If it's front hoses, the only difference between 67-70 and the 71-72 FRONT BRAKE HOSES is the end - caliper has a different connector than a drum wheel cylinder. The hoses you have are definitely drum brake hoses.

I agree with the others: go to napa auto parts, order 72 1/2T front brake hoses, and you have a 95%+ chance of success. I'm almost certain the right and left side LINES are different on 71 or 72 chevy truck - driver's side is 7/16 24 thread and passenger side is 3/8 24, and of course the other end is not threaded, it's the round washer looking end that the bolt goes through into the caliper. 67-70 the hoses are the same on either side, 3/8 24.

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

Ok so I got it figured out. They did not list a 72 1/2 ton on there website. So I called again and they helped me out and got me the right parts. The guy I talked to was super cool and understood my frustration and hand picked the right parts and gave me a email to let me know they were on the shipping truck.

The company is Classic parts of America. if you guys wanted to know.

Hmmm....NO.....and I mean NO...I'm in the biggest 6-week nightmare with them right now....I bought a complete SS kit from them and 1/2 of the pieces were wrong....I've sent them detail pics of the problem and they still have not sent out my new lines....also, they have never called me back ever when they said they would....as a matter of fact, I'm calling em again right now....this will be the 8th call regarding these issues......here's a pic of the main problem: looks real difficult to remedy huh?.....add a few inches to each piece....the other issue the rubber front brake lines....the ones they sent were too short and had the wrong fitting on one end.....they now tell me that they don't carry the correct ones for my application (stock 1970 4x4)aargh!

Dan

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

I'm gonna throw in a vote for making your own lines. I did on the rear when I installed a 12 bolt in my 3/4 ton, and I will make the fronts and front to back line when I pull my engine next month. Flaring can be difficult on cheap tools, but the bending really isn't that hard. They don't look quite as nice as prebent when you're done, but they sure work better than lines that are 3" too short!

Re: I am sooooo Ticked Off right now!!!

So i went to put the hoses in and they were the wrong ones, the ones i got were about 8-9 inch's and the ones on the truck were 13+. so i went to the local kragen and asked them to pull the hoses for a 72 and a 74. so the ones that are on the truck are for a 73-87

I had a fun day yesterday

Rackman, from looking at the picture it looks like someone has changed your rearend with a 71-72 and that is what is causing your problems.
