towing capacity question

Anyone out there know what the tow rating for a 68 Chevy C10 would be? I have towed our travel trailer with the truck and it did alright but I wonder if it is rated for a trailer that big.

With my '71 I have towed somewhere close to 7000 lbs including the trailer, and it pulled it just fine, you just gotta have enough stopping power to stop the whole thing, because believe me is not easy

Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction 68 Suburban .

Rod ,can you please mail me a higher quality scan of both these pictures you've posted? I need a good readable print for this if I want to go the inspection and get it on my registration papers.
I know Dutchburb will also be very happy with this information.
Thanks in advance.

Cya,
Edmond

Dang, 9500lbs combined for a C10 with a 350 and 3.73's?

That's a good two tons of stuff and then some over the truck's weight!!!

EDMOND tow capacity

I can get a better scan possibly... shoot me an email if the one I sent you is not good enough... I can get the same data from a 69 , 70 or 72 data book I have. These are from dealer data books.. and not everyone has one of those. hard to get... but sometimes up on ebay... but pricey... but they're good resource material definetly.
I sent an email of the scan to an email addy connected to your web site... not sure if thats what or where you wanted it sent. Rod

OldSub,

I had a friend that pulled a completely disassembled B25
bomber from Lakefront Airport in New Orleans to Petal
Miss. It was on a trailer and he used a 68 SWB stepside
6cyl with 3spd on column. He drove the truck for several
years afterwards.

This is just to show what they can pull.

Sorry to those with dial up like myself... it takes time to load these. And they're not that good, once I drop the size down and use medium quality for it to be able to be shown on the message board.

My trailer is a 23 foot Prowler travel trailer. I don't know what the gross weight is off hand but the truck pulled it fine. I was on fairly flat ground for most of the trip and took it fairly easy in the hills. I put in a transmission cooler before hand along with the hitch and the electric brake controller.

Based on the charts posted I think I was within the recommended limits.

Thanks for the input.
