Anyone running one of these crazy things?

It's time to complete the pro-street look. I'm trying to figure out just how far the scoop will stick out and I'm too lazy to take the tarp off my truck. It's cold out there!!! Anyone running one of these so I can see about how far out the hood it will go? Thanks guys!

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

Just remember that a major financial institution near you is turning dreams into reality!!! LOL

What's cool is that I have a whopping $240 into that as it sets. Been collecting parts off craigslist and yes.....it has a ways to go!

Seen one before but the guy did not have a hood on, he told me he had a fiberglass piece that was pinned on all four corners.

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

It's gonna be a bear to get those mismatched carbs tuned! LOL
Looks like one double pumper and one vac secondary?

Can't help ya much on the hood protrusion measurement but I can measure straight up from maybe the front horizontal intake gasket surface to the bottom of the hood on mine and you could compare my measurement to the total height of your setup.

Ya got any close up pics of the intake where it says Wieand? I have a tunnel ram like that and was just curious if yours looks like they welded the section in with the name on it. That's the way mine is.

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

I should make a build thread.

Sorry Mr 454_72_4x4....those are not mis-matched carbs. They are both 9776 450 cfm tunnel ram carbs. I'm converting them to center hung float bowls and mounting them sideways because it looks *****in'. Just haven't got around to the rear one. Everything is just sitting there. I also have some cool Enderle sideways linkage for it. Gunna look mean when done.

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

Wow used BBC tunnel rams must be cheaper than sbc stuff but good find. Now as for the hood thing I don't know about a bb but a sbc might not go through but the BBC should be at least 4". You have to have a video after its done...

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

All that power isn't worth squat if ya can't put it to the ground. Put some M/T ET Drag's on her, and then see if she'll hook up. J/K trucks usually equal no traction.

I think what MR454724x4 was asking was: Don't the carbs have be facing the same way (linkage toward the front? As far as mounting them sideways, it's a good thing you like them like that, as that is the only way Holleys will fit on a tunnel Ram like yours! LOL

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

They would actually fit end to end if I left the stock bowls on. I'm doing it this was because it looks closer to something at the track. I hope it sets higher than that silver truck. That almost looks like it's just on a tall manifold and not a tunnel ram. Guess I'll know soon enough.

You can always leave the hood off seriously though prostreet, your truck is looking mean. You need a build thread! Share some pictures with a fellow Oregonian!!!

Re: Anyone running one of these crazy things?

you can always just raise the motor mounts and use some carb spacers

That's just a bare tunnell ram, no spacers at all.

Yes, Iron headed 355, weiand intake, two holley 660 center squirts. Some spacers would make it stick out more.

A HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE thanks to you livrat. I knew something wasn't right. We also have to remember that my truck is a '68. The '67's and '68's have a different taper to the hood. They are the "slant nose" trucks. In the pic below, the rope represents the top of my hood. The top of the tape measure is the top of my Hilborn scoop. The bottom of my carbs will set right where the top of the air cleaner is. I'm super stokkkkked now. It's going to look bad-to-the-bone!!!!
