Thinking about buying this truck-Pics inside--Have ??s
Ok, Saw this yesterday in a u park/u sell lot. Stopped by, got the phone number and looked over it a little. Called about it-got more info.
Here is what I know/they told me. 1971 body with 3/4 ton chassis-don't know year rebuilt 350 original engine with 60000 on rebuild-not sure if bored over new starter new fuel pump runs pretty good-I drove it has tilt column-not on SPID label kind of hard to shift out of park-I think it's in the column 4 barrel carb-kind??? 4x4-told it works fine Has ac but not hooked up-owner told me that PO told her it worked-who knows nice seat nice shoulder belts with bowtie emblems-not original frame has tow hooks-not 60-72 style though-not sure what they are current owner has had it 1 year-only driven 5 times previous owner usually just took it to shows driver door panel-needs a new one radio slot has been cut for cd player Paint-what I would call excellent condition for this area-hardly any rotten spots, bed has some minor pitting but couldn't see any daylight through it Title matches VIN on doorjamb Weland intake on engine said they bought it, had oil leak on heads-took to shop, shop said they were wrong heads for engine-had been 'reworked' to fit' ??-shop said didn't work-put heads on to fit engine. no knocks in engine, tranny shifts ok. I'll attach some pictures too. My questions are: 1. Does the 3/4 ton frame swap 'de-value' anything? 2. Is there certain things I should go back and check out due to the swap? 3. They are asking $5000 and won't budge-good deal? I don't know how the frame swap affects the value? now to the pics.

long time no hear!!!
you may contact Joe (joesjunk) on the body swap question. I think he's done a few 3/4 to 1/2 ton swaps that he sold. 5K? it's hard to tell. during this downturn in the economy, it may be a tad high. BUT in the Ohio/Indiana rust belt region, guys would happily drop that kind of money on a low rust 3/4 ton 4 x 4...... especially that color combo! it would accent your Blazer really nice though!!!!!! and looking at it again, keeping it 3/4 ton with some 16.5 x 8.25's steelies would look KILLER!

My opinion, a tad high, even around here.If they want to get $5K out of it, the air needs to be hooked up and running cold. And to me, the 3/4 1/2 swap knocks some money off the value, but I could be wrong. Its got he potential to be a $5K truck withour TOO much money input, but as it sits, I'd say closer to $4K, even aruond here.

Nice truck, but a little high in my opinion. The frame swap hurts a little, looks like a $3-4K truck from here. If you're looking for one to restore, spend a little more time and find one for $2K. You can take that extra and spend it on parts, you'd have to touch the whole thing anyways.
The only way I'd pay that for a driver is IF it had a newer engine and trans and some other things like brakes and steering were fresh. I've seen some good original 4wd's on Craigslist - Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, etc... recently. I'd keep looking if I were you. I don't know about you, but I never buy a vehicle unless they are willing to come off the price a bit. It just makes me feel better even if I know it's a little high.

Does the VIN start with a "C" or "K"?

Seems a bit high. I personally tell people to keep their stuff if they tell me they won't come down a bit.Guess it's a personality problem of mine but it ain't that smokin a deal for them to tell you that they won't budge,,,,I'd walk.
Give em your phone number and tell em "If it don't sell, give me a call" !!-KB |

Re: Thinking about buying this truck-Pics inside--Have ??s
tcb1, Doug-yeah, it has been awhile. I haven't been doing much with the trucks/blazer at all lately-been taking care of some other things with more priority. I'll shoot joe a pm and see what he says.
Tynee-my thoughts exactly-little high on $$ . I was thinking about offering $4000, but when she said they wouldn't budge, I didn't even bother as I wanted to run it by all the experts on the board. Leevon-thanks for the advice. I'm the same way, when she said they wouldn't budge-it kind of killed it for me at that point. westside72-vin starts with a c in the door and on title 50motorhead-ditto, it's funny because when I drove (ower went with me) she got a couple calls about it. I asked what kind of interest she was getting-said alot of calls but no $$$$. She also said that if they don't get $5000 for it they'd keep it. who knows... thanks again for everyone's input. I'm going to let it go even though it is my favorite color unless they come down some-I plan on leaving my offer & phone #.

Re: Thinking about buying this truck-Pics inside--Have ??s
with the skyhigh lift in my opinion makes the truck worth little.. seen way too many accidents waiting to happen by crude unsafe lifts..with gas prices going up and figureing that truck would be in the 5-7mpg range aint helin it tob a fast sale either

Skyhigh lift? Unsafe lift? Gas prices going up? Gas up from 1.39 maybe... Are we looking at the same truck? The front spings look flat, and no block. How skyhigh can that be and unsafe too? Mick |
