and I found this. Top hose is leaking at the neck. It's not the hose leaking but the metal neck of the radiator itself. Anyone seen this before and know a fix for it.
Can I take it out and have it fixed?
I don't like stop leak stuff so don't even say it!

A radiator shop can braze that for you.

I wonder if they could do it in the truck without having to empty all the coolant out?

It would prolly be a good idea to go ahead and remove it and have it boiled out at the same time they braze the tube. I had mine boiled out and it only cost 40$ "ounce of prevention" bla bla bla.

The rad. itself is only a couple of years old. I bought a brand new one. I wouldn't think it needs rodding yet. Thanks though.
That's why I wonder if they could do it inside the truck.

I'd imagine the radiator would have to be pretty "dry" to braze it.

If you want to save the coolant & have them try to repair it in place; you could drain your coolant & save it.
Fill your cooling system with water & have the radiator shop dump the water & make the repair.
Refill it with water there.
When you get home, dump the water & put your coolant back in.

For the cost of antifreeze, I'd just put in new though.

they can't do it properly in the truck. The coolant will keep the tank from heating up when they try to braze/solder it.
Pull it out and hand carry it in.

I agree with everybody else. Since it is a cheap fix, I would go through the trouble and remove it, then they can also test it properly.

Straight forward task once you have the shroud out of the way if you have one.

I say pull it.

thats another good point, they won't be able to test it for leaks installed.
they'll probably refuse to do it in the truck plain and simple.

After it is fixed, use distilled water instead of tap water.
