I had plans of running this side fill door. But I don't know if it will work because of the custom side trim. I think the filler will be mounted too low to allow easy fuel flow to the tank. I'll have to study it some more.

Allen, I used a fuel door from a 95' Chev pickup and was originally not going to run the side trim but have since changed my mind. As you said there is only one place that the fill can go to assure easy flow to the tank so, I am going to cut and fit the trim now.

Trying to get an idea of where the fuel pocket will be. The chrome side moulding will be close.











I got the roof gutter seam sealed with Duramix 4229 controlled flow seam sealer. I've been waiting on a warmer day so it would flow out. It turned out pretty good.







Does anyone know if there are repair pieces for this area where the inside of the bed meets the wood floor?

Thanks for taking the time to catch up. I'm glad I made the decision to do the dash. It was alot of work, but well worth it. Someone came by and said the dash will make the truck stand out. I said I don't think so unless they are a real enthusist. Most people will look at it and think it is original. Then the guy I bought the radiator stopped by to see the truck and after he looked at it I asked him if he noticed anything out of the ordinary. He said "like what". I said "the dash". He still didn't know what was different. For those that know it will be noticed. BTW thanks for the comment.


I did get out in the shop a little tonight. Thought I would post an informational post. Most of ya'll know what this tool is but some don't. Before this tool people drilled holes in dents and ran a screw in it and slide hammered it out. This stud gun is not invasive, but will leave a burn mark on the back side. Make sure you have everything clear on the back side, or you'll be roasting marshmellows.





Clean the metal of paint in the area that you will put a stud. I used a few more than what is in the pic to get most of the dent out and put some tension back in the metal. It was pretty flemsy.



Yes I wasn't happy with my roof, once wiped down with glass cleaner it showed some ripples. I figured I'd fix it now.

The kit I have has a pull handle and slide hammer. I pulled up on the pin while hammering lightly around it on the crown of the dent. The kit also has an attachment to weld pins for some body side mouldings and for the clips that hold the chrome trim around some front and back glass.

I love it. It does a great job. But they have an even better system out now. I would love to have one. It is alot faster and it does more. I used one before that another bodyman had. It wouldn't be worth it for a hobbist. Here is the link

Allan I saw a 55 dash for sale really cheap, and thought of getting it to put in my 65. At this point I just want to get it on the road. I can always do it later, but I would really like to put one like your in.

I'm thinking of posting a build thread on mine. I'm back halfing a 73 1/2 ton short bed to the 3/4 ton long bed front of my 65, and converting it to a 1/2 ton short bed. I bought a wrecked 73, and am using everything I can off it. I don't like the coils on the 60-72 frames. That's why I'm doing this. I made a custom triangle 4-link for it that has canter lever air bag mounts. It will be an interesting build. Based on doing everything as cheap as I can. So far I have only $740.00 in both trucks.
