I assume you want all of the lead gone. Did you try heating it? The lead "should" melt long before the metal and ooze off the tailgate. I have never done it, but it sounds good in theory.

Yes, tailgate. Once i saw it was lead, I used the torch to melt the bulk off and then wire wheel to what you see. Wiped with degreaser and shot with self etching primer.

Good thinking from the pictures I thought maybe you did the entire thing with the wire wheel. I'm sure "bringing the heat" was MUCH faster.

Uh....You do realize how toxic lead exposure is?
I mean heating it with a torch creates toxic vapors. You should have worn a breating apparatus. Second, to wear a complete haz mat suit covering yourself head to toe with gloves. Then collect the lead and dispose of it as hazardous waste.
And wire wheeling it....more danger

I did it outside with a respirator and bagged up the "droppings"
