Re: Mini Spool?
Isn't a mini spool a circle track set-up?

Re: Mini Spool?
no company makes a good mini spool that will take the punishment of traction and some fair horse power IMO.

Re: Mini Spool?
totally different...
traction on dirt is no where near what you get on pavement.... you can put 1000hp through a 7.5"... as long as it never hooks up.

Re: Mini Spool?
In my old 67 camaro with a 9 inch I made about 1000 low 7 second 1/8 mile passes on a stock 9 inch with 28 spline axles and a mini spool. When I stepped up the combo to run high 6's I broke 1 stock axle and 1 crosspin in the mini spool before going to 35 spline stuff with a spool.

Re: Mini Spool?
I have the auburn mini spool in my 71-c-10. If you do not mind dragging your tires around corners get it. If not just buy the powertrax unit.

Re: Mini Spool?
ha. I can tell how much time you spend around a dirt track. Cars that are set up right hook up just as hard on dirt as they do on asphalt

Re: Mini Spool?
so... you're saying.. if you punch it from a craw it wont spin....
every car i've seen on a dirt track has, even just a tiny tiny bit.. but it's enough to unload the rear.... from crappy hornets.. o 410s... theres alot more load in the rear when starting from a stop than going from a roll as well

Re: Mini Spool?
Piece of cake to put in I've run one in my 12 bolt for two years and no problems but now I have a factory lsd again. They are very hard to push around a corner.

Re: Mini Spool?
dont say i didnt warn you , a mini will do ok in a (car) making ok power and fair traction , but i broke 4 mini spools of all brands and cross pins, never broke a axle in my 72 chevy (truck) . it was a factory 31 spline and it was a 9 inch out of a 71 ford truck, imo the 12 bolt is a much better rearend anyway and its chevy. and my truck ran 7s on motor.your trucks will break a mini spool, i promise, vince.

Re: Mini Spool?
New update on my mini, I just sold it yesterday to a friend and looked at the axles. Theres about 7000 miles on them stock 30 spline and there is wear evidence on them but no twisting but you can see where the splines are worn on both sides. Went back to open to sell truck.
