2wd drive to 4wd: Rear crossmember???
Well guys im stumped again with my project! What do you do with the cross member where the driveline goes through just before the carrier bearing? Do you cut it? Does the 4x4 rear driveshaft go below it? What do I do? Im taking pics of this whole project and will be posting soon. I just finished the front axle last night, turned out great!
Thanks Chad |

Re: 2wd drive to 4wd: Rear crossmember???
The 4wd crossmember is different from the factory. If your truck is not set up high enough for the driveshaft to clear and you have enough wheel base, (read longbed) you could use your carrier bearing and run the driveshaft on a slip yoke down to the rear axle. Talk about keeping your driveshaft up out of the way, this would do it.
