engine gasket sets
I have a little more to grind but the inner fender will be done. I just saved $90 and the money and time it takes to ship. I got a radiator support from salvage yard and will put it all together in a few days.
Before I do I have a question? I want to replace the gaskets and seals that cause the most problem on the engine and transmission. I was wondering (1) If taking the engine out now or taking it out at all is necessary? (2) If there is a gasket set that would have all the gaskets needed to replace the most common leaks also which brand [Fel-pro]? and (3) If there is no gasket set for what I want what are the most common leaks and the best way to fix them with the engine in or out? Maybe by spring I will be able to have it complete and on the road.

If you want to replace the gaskets it can be done either way but to do the pan gasket you will have to lift the engine at least a little.If you are really wanting to detail the engine compartment it is much easier to pull the engine.

I'm assuming you have a small block engine. If so, go to your local parts store and tell them you want a FelPro KS2600. That is a full gasket set. Cost should be somewhere between 30 and 40 dollars.

It is a 350 with a automatic 350 transmission so will this Felpro ks2600 have everthing I need for the engine?
I was wondering about any seals the transmission might need would Felpro have a set for it? I am changing the filter and fluid in it also |

That part number gets you all the gaskets for the engine, top to bottom.
Insist on that part number too. They may try and sell you something else, but it will cost more. I have a buddy on the HAMB that is a rep for them and he clued me into this deal. The number listed above is a jobbers part. It is the same stuff, but marketed to shops not consumers. If they balk, make them order it. You will save a good bit of money this way.

When you buy the trans filter it should come with a gasket, it will be good enough for the trans. I also recommend felpro for the engine , thats all I have ever ran and have never had any problems.

As long as you are replacing gaskets the torque converter seal and the trans output shaft seal. These arent included included in any kits that I have seen.

I need transmission lines for automatic 350 is there a preference on either ordering from a vender (Southern Kentucky, etc) or getting a brake line and bending it myself. Has anyone done this and what did you find the most beneficial?

Can anyone tell me where to find in the shop manual fluid level and such? I need to know how much fluid is needed for a 350 auto-transmission.
Also can anyone help me with finding an evaporative emission control system cap and the charcoal that is to go in it? It this a necessary part and if not how would you remove it with out effecting the engine. I would like to leave it but the cap is broke and I know it needs new charcoal.
