How to get to cab bolts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Ok this might be dumb question but hvae never done this befor! I got a 86 gmc body that im going to put on my 75 chevy frame. Was looking the cab over to day and how do you get to the cab bolts? Do i have to cut a hole in the floor?

Also dose some one have a wiring diagram on here? Im going to be lost when hooking this up to the new motor and frame

Cab bolts are accessible from underneath the cab.

the bolts go into the cab from underneath. they have a welded in piece that has the threads... if that is spun you have to drill into the floor to take em apart manually or use a blue tip wrench

If you end up stripping these trying to get them out (we did...the squares at the top couldn't compete with thirty years of rust on the bolt and stripped out), get some 5/8 or 3/4 nuts and weld to the top of the bolts, then a long 1/2 inch wrench on the bolts at top/bottom should get them. We had to do that to get them out.

Nothing is ever as easy as it may seem on these old trucks!
