Leak in my Cab
I have a leak behind the glove box. There's some rust under the over hang part just above the heater/ac box. Hard to explain, check out the pic. I have no idea how I'm going to get to it to cut out the rust. Last time I had the cowl off it seemed solid.

Re: Leak in my Cab
Sin,
take a look at the drip lip, under the hood, that's just behind the heater box. I just imagine it's coming from there by where the rust is at in your pic. I actually came out to the garage just to look at the area, but since I don't have a/c, mine's a bit different. is it just surface rust or has it got some depth? unfortunately, you may have to pull the cowl and the heater/ac box off the firewall to rule out where your getting the water infiltration. sorry, not a great answer. hopefully someone else can chime in.

Re: Leak in my Cab
Hey Doug. The rust is about a 3" square. It's pretty bad. It's above the heater box though. I'm thinking it's leaking from somewhere around the cowl somehow.

Re: Leak in my Cab
Sin,
I really think you should pull the cowl. I will guarantee you a 6 pack of Schlitz (yeah I'm cheap) that it's the drip lip under the hood or maybe a cowl screw that's allowing water in. those freaking body seals are notorious for rust in those areas. hate to say it, but your going to have to remove a few items so that the picture may be clearer. start with the cowl since it's the easiest. if you were closer I'd be over to help wrench.......

Re: Leak in my Cab
How would I seal a cowl screw? I think that may be the culprit.

Re: Leak in my Cab
easiest way would be to install the screw like normal, then put a dab of silicone over it.

Re: Leak in my Cab
Take your cowl cover off. There`s abody seam where the windshield post meets the cowl that leaks when the seal goes bad.It can rust out if not noticed in time.

Re: Leak in my Cab
Thanks for the help guys. I gotta wait a couple of days for it to quit raining, then I'll pull the cowl and see what's up.
