Factory Toolbox

I found a 73 or 74 C20 that has what looks to me a factory toolbox. Has anyone ever seen one on these trucks? I have only seen them on F%#D's

Re: Factory Toolbox

I didn't know that they existed, but I think Bigblock73 confirmed that they are legit. Jeff was that you or Chris?

Re: Factory Toolbox

I'm thinking custom, look where the gas cap and fuel tank is, don't tell me that's factory.
I would like to see some more pics of this truck.

Re: Factory Toolbox

That is the only picture I have. The truck was at a wrecking yard it was an original 454 c20 2wd. I wish I would have taken a picture of the option sticker. Kind of funny a 454 3/4 ton with one fuel tank.

Good eye. The brochure does prove they were available from GM. I'll guess they just made adjustments to the production versions. I'll also guess that the "in cab" tank was aftermarket.

Re: Factory Toolbox

I always wondered why GM didn't do that. There is alot of space under there just being wasted. Could still use it with the factory tank, wouldn't be very big tho...

Re: Factory Toolbox

I think 1970 was the first year for the tool box. They were all on the pass side until 73 when they moved to the drivers side. I think it may have been 73-74 that it was an option. On a side note, my 66 ford shortbed has one. That is a different version than the longbed even...
