Cam shaft ID

Well my 350 block is off to the machine shop this morning. After removing the pistons and the cam shaft I came to the conclusion that this engine has been apart once before. The camshaft is in excellent shape and doesn't appear to be a factory one. Is there some place I can look for an ID on it?? I took a quick look at it and only found a single digit # stamped into the end so far.


1 more question..... are the bottoms of the piston rods stamped with the cylinder # from the factory?

Not on bottom but sometimes on each halve at parting line.

Ok i found some numbers. It has GM9 and then below it, it looks like 6930. Anyone know where I can find out what this is?

Tim, thats the same cam I just removed my truck. It's a stock small block cam from GM. It has .410 lift on the exhaust. Go to www.nastyz28.com

Came in such engines as the 283, 307 and 327.

.390 Intake, .410 exhaust

310 intake duration

320 exhaust duration

1.50 rocker ratio

ORANGE!!!! The engine will be done in Chevy orange, gloss black and CHROME!! The cab and front clip will be orange with a black flatbed.
