Both my trucks do not have hood insulation, and I was wondering who is running it and what you are using. Does it make a big difference in terms of the noise level? I don't have anything to compare it to and was wondering if it's worth it to insulate them.

Hey Dan,

I did this and I think it made a pretty big difference. Hood really makes a nice "thud" sound when I close it and the hood stays pretty cool as well as much of the engine noise if muffled.

Used single foil sided insulation and some 3M hood insulation spray adhesive and also fabbed a little strap of aluminum to go down the center rib. So far, after about 3,000 miles it's sticking perfectly.

I have contemplating whether Rhino-liner bed liner would be a good idea. I could have it sprayed red, and it wouldn't be too far from stock looking besides the texture.

Thanks......I think any type of paint or spray liner would make a difference and would look more finished if painted.

One thing nice about the insulation is that the thickness really fits tight between the hood braces and hood surface and I get no hood jiggle going down the road.

SactoJim, that's a good idea - I think I might try that on my '67. Actually, the PO on my '70 put an undercoating type material on the inside of the hood and that actually seems a bit quieter than the '67, but still fairly loud.

Where did you get the insulation at? Lowes, Homedpoe is it there regular insulation for homes or is it some kind of car product. I have thought about buying a Chevy truck blanket for a late model and cut it up to work.
Here are a couple on E-Bay. One is 1" thick the other's are 1/2" thick.
