picked up a drum booster today

I went and picked up a bunch of parts from a friend that had a rolled over 66 c-10 GMC. One of the items was this drum booster and bracket that was still on the truck. Is there any way to test this thing befor i go through with installing it?? The only reason i ask is because this thing has been sitting for about 10 years. Is there a diff between a regular drum and a power drum master cyl. My manual master does not have a bolt in the end or a bleeder looking type of nipple on the top like the manual cyl does. The master cyl on the boster now is full of rust and junk is why i ask. The manual one works just fine.

You got it all and that is great. You can bench test the master cylinder, but I am not sure about the power brake booster. FYI, the single chamber master cylinder for the manual brakes and the single chamber master cylinder for the factory power brakes is the same and interchangeble. In fact, I have done the conversion on several 4-5-6 Chevy trucks, utilizing the factory power brake booster and factory manual power brake master cylinder, without breaking into the system, thus not requiring bleeding the system.

I was able to get a new booster from autozone for a bit over $100. They did have to order it. Only took a couple days. (I think the 67-72 booster is the same) Also, now would be a good time to split your brakes. A 67-72 drum/drum dual master should bolt right up to your booster. If you plan on doing disc brakes, the 71-72 disc/drum master will work.
If you have a mity-vac you could apply vacuum to the booster and see if it holds it.
