Need some input on setting up my rear suspension with notch
Alright here is the deal. I just finished up my notch on my truck. I am going to start building my new lower control arms and wishbone setup. What is the preferred pinion angle on the rear end? I am thinking 4 degrees up? And I am assuming I will need to set the pinion angle for ride height because the pinion angle will change when the truck is fully aired up or aired down?
Any suggestions or tips are welcomed. Thanks..... |

Re: Need some input on setting up my rear suspension with notch
I would set it up for about 3-4degs and then after you get the motor and tranny installed you can adjust the rear pinion angle by adjusting the wishbone or the lower bars. You want your pinion angle of the rear end to be the opposite of your tranny. For example. If your tranny is set at a -3deg you want your rear end to be at +3 so they cancell eachother out. Also you need to set you angles at ride height. That make sence?

Is it a one piece drive shaft? Rule of them is if your motor is angled at 5 degrees (tailshaft pointing down) your pinion should be up 5 degrees.
If it's a 2-piece, there is some math involved. I won't explain it in case yours is a one-piece. I'm also tired so it might not even make sense right now. And yes, set it at ride height.

Last I looked Air Ride Tech's website had a great article on pinion angle and driveshaft angle and such.
