Steering gear box compatability
My 71 K20 power steering gearbox is needing replace super bad...
I've found two gear boxes locally. One from a 79 K10 and the other from a 97 GMC Z71 4X4. Anyone know if both or either of the boxes are compatible. I'll make a box to box comparison when I go see them, but gas ain't cheap so I was wanting to get an idea before I go... Thanks!!!

Re: Steering gear box compatability
Can't help you with that but might be safer to rebuild yours. Kits are available.

Re: Steering gear box compatability
Can't say off the top of my head...If I had to put money on one I'd go with the 79. I know on 2wd models people generally say that they'll bolt on all the way up to 86ish. I think the only issue is after a certain year the fittings for the lines are metric instead of standard. You might try posting this same question in the 4x4 section if you don't get a quick response here.
