Just purchase a 2009 GMC 6.6l diesel. What are your thoughts on a programmer to increase HP and better fuel? I am looking for something simple and kind of a plug and play idea. And as always the best bang for your buck

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Oh yes is it worth it to spend the cash when the truck brand new?

Banks stuff is awesome but a little pricey. The Bully Dog stuff is pretty good too.

Try this site, there are alot of options and a lot of things to consider when modding the new trucks with the DPF.
I have an 08 that I am just going to leave stock! Good Luck...

PPE or Quadzilla! Either product will turn the DPF function off if you desire. Very good website right here: www.dieselperformanceparts.com

Just a word of caution the programming in the new diesels will record if any programming is different than stock and store it letting dealership now if anything has been done to the truck and may void your warranty if you are caught.

Depends on the dealership. Just dont have the programmer in the truck or lots of black soot on the bumper lol

Sure they can tell...that's not just with the new ones. That's been from day one of the OBDIIs.

It's just like your desktop computer that you are staring into right now...it stores information and it keeps footprints. It's like that porn site that you went to a while back (yep...don't deny it) and peered around for a little while. When you left it you traced your footsteps and erased your history, cleared the cookies, and pretty much everything you could think of doing. Well, if your wife knew how and wanted to, she could still go in there and see where you've been. It leaves a footprint on that computer forever. The same thing with the trucks computer. They can tell off on you.

BUT, for the dealership to do that...they've got to go into the truck and take the computer out and send it off to someone that knows what they're doing. The chances of that happening is pretty slim because they don't want to take the time to do it nor do they want your truck taking up space on their lot. They will look at you and ask you if you've had anything on the truck. Your reply, "No.". Then they may say that their computer says the boost pressure history readings are a little higher than normal and the fuel pressure history readings are higher as well. Your response. "Ok. That's why I've brought it to you. Something is wrong somewhere.".

It's actually quite simple. Of course, I'd NEVER tell you to do this though. This is just hypothetically speaking.

Oh yes is it worth it to spend the cash when the truck brand new? __________________ 1971 Chevy C20, 350 V8, 4 speed, orginal paint, added front and rear bumpers and got white mirrors chromed and put on newer wheels, put on power steering, few holes in box where camper tie downs located and 6 big holes in tail gate where step mounted.Seat has one tiny hole on side other than that perfect shape.We are talking plain Jane here.
