Was at the GoodGuys car show this weekend. i am looking for a radio/sterio that will fit into dash (72 chevy) with out cutting and not spending a bunch of money. I found some at show but way to much money. Ant suggestions?

2 questions.
1. does your truck have an existing radio?
2. if so it is probably a single din radio at most they are 50-60 at walmart or solemplace like that

tecky, if he doesn't want to cut his dash, then he probably doesn't have a din sized radio... that would have him complaining that someone cut the dash on his truck.

The first thing we need to figure, is what kind of money Gary is lookin to spend. The ones made fot fit and look some what like they belong there are not cheap, and most say they don't sound good either.

I'm gonna have to do a write up on this eventually. This quesiton is asked some many times...

Ok, basically, there's two companies out there that offer something that will work, both are offered through LMC and both are not that cheap.

Custom Auto Sound is the first of the two. Their products fit well at first, but wear easily and sound bad.

Retro Sound is the second one and from what I am told they have a much better product than Custom Auto Sound. There's a couple members here with their new parts and I've only heard one complaint, but their customer service is top notch.

Ditto - although I have sent mine in twice so far. (retrosound). They are going to send me a new unit in a couple of days, and hopefully this will be the last one. I have been having problems with the thumb drive unit. My thinking is to keep the dash whole (although I cut my doors today) in the hopes that someday the new technology will not require a extra wide hole to accomodate the media it uses (i.e, CD's). I will keep this section posted as to how this unit is working out for me. They have been very good in working with me but I believe that their source in China has quality control issues. Stay tuned.

If it doesn't have to be anything special, why not go on Fleabay or the like and just find a shaft radio? Probably can get one for cheap. Maybe even find one that controls a CD changer....

Thanks for all the replys. great info here. The retro is what I would like to do now that i see it. Thanks for link. I was hoping for a cheaper setup but it looks like I will need to spend on this. Do not want to cut dash. Thanks again and sorry for the late responce got busy at work.
