This is really getting old. The front of my 79 is droped 5". So is my 78. I had no problems with the 78. The 79 is hitting every freakin bump it can. My a-arms arent going to last much longer. They already have a good 1/4" of metal removed in one spot. Why is this happening? I used all the good stuff, toxic shocks, eiback springs, 3" spindles. My 78 had the stock shocks on it. My only guess is the eibach springs. They are progressive rate. So maybe they are compressing to easy in the beggining, allowing my truck to hit EVERYTHING?
If anyone has ideas, Id love to hear them.

It's the Eibachs and those shocks aren't the best either imo. Eibachs are way too soft for this heavy a truck. I have them on my 98 and thier almost to soft for it.

Toxic shocks aren't gonna last long either. They might as well be AIM shocks for how long they'll last you.

i always heard eibachs were stiff, but maybe thats just for my friends import cars:p

and ditto on the toxic shocks, bad stuffs they is

since putting on my doestch tech shocks, i have only scraped my headers once

WORD to what 5-8 and Ocbaud said. I've had both DJM and Eibach springs. The ladder is a stiffer spring by far. I'de recommend a set of Doetsch Tech shock absorbers too.

i barley scrape at all, with 2.5 inch western springs and 2.5 inch western spindles and d-tech shocks, and 255/60/15 tires, but i drive carefully, when i do hit though, it hits hard. i bent a control arm badly and am gonna replace it.

Im confused. 5-8 said eibachs are way too soft, and your agreeing but then you say the eibachs are stiffer then DJM springs?

Im about to go with normal summit 2" springs and stock friggin shocks. They work 10times better then this setup.

I have Summit (Ground Force) 2 inch springs and doetsch tech shocks on my 4.5/6 drop and haven't scraped yet. Good stuff, I think it is mostly the shocks though.

I know for a fact, your Eibach springs are not too soft. They are after all made for the truck. They are a progressive spring, which means the farther they go down, the stiffer they become. Eibach springs are the best you can buy. I know those are not soft, first hand.

I say your shocks may have something to do with it. Are your spindles 2.5's? What size are your tires?

All I can think of is stay out of the pot holes.

Mike, I wanna be cool like dave so I run a set of DUBS, although they are 3/4 scale models [15"s hehe] The spindles are 3" DJM units. Im pretty sure now its all the shocks.

Wish I had known before I orderd them. I talked to a friend who works for eibach [although hes in the import part, hes a honda v6 lover like me

] and he also thinks its the shocks. And before you go boo-hiss him, he also has a 430hp 1968 chevy c10 :p

At least it is a V motor, with more than 4 cylinders.

Tom, you probably remember me telling you I thought those springs were more like 2.5's right? I know all the numbers say they are 2", but my measurements say they are at least 2.5". If this is the case, and I'm pretty sure it is, you are more than 5". This may have something to do with the difference between trucks. Just a thought.

Yeah, Belltech Nitro drops as well. Only drop shock worth it's weight is Doetch Techs. You would think Belltech would make a better shock. Maybe they do now, but the Nitro drops I used were crap after very few miles.

i've heard good things about there new "nitro-ACTIVE" drop shocks.

they are supposed to be mono tube, like the edelbrocks.

Yep. I had a set of Nitro-Active shock absorbers and a 3/4" drop for 1-year. They were also crap.

The front drops on my trucks look the same when checking ground clearence between the a-arms. Either way, I think it has the perfect stance on it right now. I want to make it work. Ill be looking into some new shocks ASAP.

they did send them, they arrived the next day. didnt you read the post? the drop kit was drop shipped direct from Western Chassis, and the shocks were shipped from Mac's Spring. i called them the day after i got the drop kit, and they said they had shipped the same day, for some reason didnt show at the same time.
