still no go..help

well i still cant seem to get my truck to run better.. it still runs horrible.. where i need to keep my foot in it to keep it running.. it backfires when i try to rev but its just not running right..filters are not plugged... float isnt stuck.. i have no idea what to do.. new points are in and still not firing right.. any ideas?

Sounds like an issue with the timing. I am not good at setting this myself so I cant give you good advice on how to do that. I have a mechanic friend who does that for me.

I'd ditch the points distributor and go with an HEI.

hei will come later.. gotta get all the body work done so i can at least get it back on the road...that $100 some can be spent elsewhere

I would check the timing, seems like the timing might be too advanced.

Are all of the wires routed to the correct plugs? If they are, my guess is the timing is too far advanced.

maybe go to the library get a book on how to do a tuneup and read and follow the step by step directions

it has to be advanced..my dads friend came over and put the points in and advanced timing a little because when it cranked it was little delayed.. ill move it back.. i tried starting it little bit ago press gas once and it shoots gas out the carb... i guess i flooded it too haha

it runs like normal.. next thing to fix it has been running so rich lately... like i mean everytime u rev it you smell pure gas...
