Re: when it rains it poors

Unless you can cut it out and weld in a new section your best bet would be to sand it clean and fiberglass over to prevent water from coming in.

That is NOT the correct way to fix it but knowing your limited budget, it's what I would consider.

Re: when it rains it poors

Wow, I feel your pain. I bought my truck 2 years ago, looked great with shiny gloss paint. Now I am replacing the bed, fenders, doors, rockers, cab corners the correct way.

I've never seen these trucks with rot in that section before. Wow

Poke I agree with the fiberglass fix for the budget, but you may also keep an eye out for a cab. Sometimes you can find them pretty cheap.

Re: when it rains it poors

Just come down here to south GA and I will take you to my favorite junk yard and you can pick from about 8 square body cabs. There is one in particular that is perfect and he is pretty cheap too. He has a four wheel drive cab sitting on the ground so all you would have to do is load it on a trailer. The yard is outside of Nashville Ga 10 minutes from my house. I go there on a weekly basis.

Re: when it rains it poors

thump might have the right idea. It would be a lot easier and may come out better looking too. That's one of those areas, that once damaged by rust or dents its real hard to get it back looking factory again, at least for me...lol

I would consider selling the stereo to buy a cab. Its better to be dry and not have a radio then be wet with a nice sound system.
