I got the 2 bolts removed easily but can't figure out how to get the rod detached so I can swap out the handles... I looked in the FAQ but found nothing. Help is greatly appreciated

Re: door handle replacement HELP!

The verticle rod has to be disconnected from the latch mechanism at the bottom in order to fully remove the handle from the door

Here the retainer clip has been removed and the rod removed from the latch mechanism. You can see the retainer clip sitting below the rod here just before it dropped to the bottom of the door.

In oder to remove the handle from the door you have to depress the thumb button while pulling the handle away from the door. This alows the linkage at the top to rotate enough to clear the opening in the door.

Re: door handle replacement HELP!

excellent reply and pics, thank you! I couldn't really tell if there was a clip on the lower end of mine due to grime. This should be put in the FAQ, I'm sure someone could use it at sometime.
